I know cables need to be specific and some require drivers...
I did have an instance where I could connect to my 91, but it would not connect to my neighbors 89... could not figure out why (after it was clearly working on my 91)....

Re: Cant connect to aldl port
86 through 89 TPI use the 165 ECM which is said to be problematic in it's connections. The 90 and 91 use the 730 ECM which is much easier to connect. IIANM, I recall reading that some 165 will connect without the 10k resistor or possibly, once connected, you can remove the 10k so the ECM will go into closed loop. Try a search for 165 ECM connection problems, maybe someone has come up with a solution or a reliable cable. HTH!

I'll look into it thanks! I'm also running the Delco 16198259 ecu, does that make any difference in regard to connection problems?

I believe the 259 is just an upgrade of the 165 but has the same basic design, the same connection problems though.

Re: Cant connect to aldl port
Well I got my laptop to recognize the moates cable, but it's still telling me that there's no signal from the ecu?
Is there something I could be doing wrong with datamaster? I'm no good with this stuff..

Sorry, I am not familiar with Datamaster so really can't say one way or the other. Maybe someone familiar with it will chime in. GL!

Re: Cant connect to aldl port
I would recommend that you go with turner pro RT. I have had good luck with that program. With the 165 ecm, connecting can be a problem but I have had good luck with it.

Re: Cant connect to aldl port
I would still recommend Turnerpro Rt version 5.0. If you have the com port configured correctly and other settings correct, it works pretty good. I'm running windows 10 and tunerpro RT v5. I can datalog for about 15 minutes before it gets errors and disconnects. I can save the log and play it back, but I admit the 165 ecm can be problematic at times.
