CAMARO FOG LIGHTS
Took Fogs and harness off an 86 Iroc to put on my 85 Z28
I know where all the wires go except for one plug. Could someone help?
This is what I know so far:
1.) Brown Wire from Relay goes to Switch
2.) Purple Wire from Lights go to Switch
3.) Black Wire from Lights go to Ground
4.) Red (orange looking) Wire with inline fuses goes to un-switched (constant) battery feed.
5.) There is one plug left over, where does it go? Green and Brown Wire attached with the Male weather pack plug go? I have attached a pic.
Also, feel free to review any of this information. If I am wrong please lemme know.
Thanks fellow Third Genians!

Re: CAMARO FOG LIGHTS
to be honest the only thing i can think of it that it plugs into the harness for the headlights so the fogs turn off when the high beams are on. Thats just a guess is all.

Here's the '86 wiring diagram:
http://austinthirdgen.org/mkportal/m...ody_wiring.gif
I don't know how accurate the diagram is because it shows the fog lamp switch as being illuminated and I don't think they were back in '86-'87. At least the switch in my '87 isn't. Your switch doesn't look like it is either.
I think 6SIX6 is correct about the mystery plug.

Re: CAMARO FOG LIGHTS
I'm terrible at schematics. I believe I have it figured out except for that one plug. But does it plug into the high beams or the Low beams? Can anyone take a look at where that plug runs to on their cars? This one does not have the lighted switch.

Re: CAMARO FOG LIGHTS
I think I got it.
First verify that the plug is what I think it is. I'm going to assume you know how to use an ohm meter to check for continuity.
Take the ohm meter and see if the green wire of the mystery plug is the same green wire that is going into the relay. Yes or no?
Do the same with the brown wire. Yes or no?
If both are yes, then we know what the mystery connector goes to:
The double-ended arrow is the mystery plug. The brown wire goes to the fog lamp switch. Follow the single-ended red arrow to the next image.....
The green wire goes to the positive side of the headlights.
I'm guessing that your mystery connector is this one:
Unless you have a car that originally came equipped with fog lights, I doubt you'll find the mating plug for the mystery connector. You'll have to run your own separate wires.

Re: CAMARO FOG LIGHTS
Wow, that is pretty impressive. After testing last night. The mystery plug goes to ::drum rolls:: to the parking light and the high beam. I did a quick mock up and ran temp wire pieces from the green wire on the mystery plug to the high beam and ran a wire from the brown wire to the parking light and wall'la when I turned on the parking lights and flipped the switch for the fogs there was light. When I turned on the head lights the fogs stayed on. When I turned on the high beams the fogs went off. Mystery solved.
So here is the mock up for anyone else trying to put factory fog lights on their car.
Purple wire from fog lights: Goes to switch in the dash
Black wire(s) from fog lights: ground it(them)
Red/orange wire from relay with in line fusible links: straight from non-switched battery source. I ran mine to the power feed going to the head light switch.
Single Brown wire coming from relay: goes to the fog light switch
The "Mystery Plug" that has a green wire and brown wire:
Green Wire goes to green wire on High Beam. If you want your fogs to turn off with them on.
Brown wire goes to brown wire on the parking light. This allows for the fog lights to only come on when the parking lights/low beams are on and off when the head light switched is turned off.
Shew glad that is done.
Thanks so much for all the help y'all. Hopefully this post will help the next person to come a long.
