Fan sometimes turns on with key-on.

Car: 1991 Firebird Formula
Engine: 5.7L TPI
Transmission: 700r4
Axle/Gears: 3.23
Fan sometimes turns on with key-on.
Not exactly sure where to put this one. Sometimes, on rare occasion, when I go to the key-on position one of the front fans turns on. If I crank it it will usually start then die. I go key-off back to key on and it mysteriously disappears and works fine. Anyone experienced this or have any ideas what's going on? Not a problem now but would hate to be stranded if it decides it wants to happen all the time
