All GTA/TA spoke rims are 8" wide. The only wider 'GTA' rims I know of arent GTA rims, they are GNX rims. Thought those were 9" wide though. They were all black too, FYI.

ok, well this is the thing though, these are 9.5 for sure, and they have the same stamp the stock 16.8 spoke gta's have. not to mention they were found on a t/a(gta). Are you 100% sure there was only 16x8 ? i belive you in a way cause its all i seen is 16x8.... grrr this is drivin me up the wall

If you measure from the outside edges, it might be 9.5. I think you have to measure from the inside bead or something. Not positive though.

I know 16x8 was the only thing out there, just cant hurt to ask and double check, although i'm not complaining, hehehe 16x9.5 works with me on the rear what bothers me is that they have the exact same stamp on them that the stock gta's have. I'm gonna be taking pictures in the next couple days to show yall

i bet someone who was crafty and waned stock looking rims had the rims widened. I would love to do that so a set of stock rims. It normally cost about 150-250 per wheel to have them widened. can we see a pic of the 16x8 and the 16x9.5 next to each other. i bet anything that they were widened if all the sotck marks are there.

The sme company that made rims for GTA's made simular rims for other auto manufacturers as well. Lotus have the same gold crosslace as the GTA but they can be found in a 15" and 16" rim, but I am unsure of the width. The comapny was based in Japan and had some type of double "J" insignia IIRC. Are they designed to be the front or back rims??? Tell us all the numbers offt he rims and if they say rear or front as well as the offsets. One thing is for sure, they are not GTA crosslace rims.

There is a company that makes them. I can't remember the web site, its been posted here before.

But you can get them in VERY large width rims. As well as in 18" diameter too.

I believe the "camaro spottings in japan" thread had a link. I'm just too lazy to dig it up.

I gotta get my camera workin or get a new one, will be taken care of in the next day, these rims arnt 100% identical to the 16x8 though, on the tips of the lace closest to the tire is screw type things, like the 16x8 Formula rims.

There is a GTA in the Museum across the street, if I feel like it I will go and look... I always thought they put 245 50R16's on it...which would indicate that they used 8"s

I was just on the Buickturbo board and asked how wide the GNX rims were, and I was told that they were 8" wide, the difference was the offset...

Yep, they are just like the '87 GTA wheels except a slightly different offset. Tires for the GNX were 245/50/16 up front and 255/50/16 in back.

All G-Body's take the front offset on all four corners. No spacers needed if you use those.

They look like the 87 wheel but they are a 17inch diameter and 9.5 inch wide rather than 16inch used on the GTA.

The Firefox wheels are the 17inch BBS wheel. This is a 3 piece wheel. I do not know the specifics of the GNX wheel.

GTA rims were originally done by UBE in JAPAN... A-mold acted like a distributor for UBE... There used to be some guys on this board that worked at A-mold that explained the story to me... Same thing goes for the ZR-1 rim except A-mold ended up RUNNING those machines here... UBE actually makes machines that make rims..among other things... I dont have a good grasp on the entine situation given that at the time I was being told this I was not interested BUT UBE was who I was told MADE them....

Only 150-250 a wheel to get them widened? hmmmmm

got the ronal firehawks for the formie, but a set of widened gold crosslace for the TTA :-) lol can get me some 275 drag radials on there then and have a hope in () of hooking then :-)

lol

Would be neat and keee ot sleeper , people would look and be like stock rim hehe

yes GNX rims are 16*8, although if u do measure both rim styles GNX and GTA they come out to closer to 8.5 width then 8........

That is TIRE width, not rim width. The Patch of the tire is 9.6" wide

Re: 16x9.5 GTA Rims ????

8" - RIM Width
9.6" Width of the tire patch

You can almost force any 16" tire on any 16" rim. Our cars actually had several width tires. The 245-50R16 for the FE2/WS6 suspension, and 235-55R16, and even a 215-65R16

The first number indicates the Width of the tread patch that contacts the road, the 50 is the percentage of the width to the height of the tire from the rim, and the R16 is obviously the rim diameter. Why they use Metric AND Inches is beyond me.

GNX wheels were also 16x8, not 9, not 9.5. They did use 245/50s on the front and 255/50 on the rear. The only thing that ever got more was the 'vette, most pre-'88s were 16x8.5, but the Z51s had 9.5s, first on the rear, then on all 4. The '88 'vette had a unique 16x8.5, there were no 9.5s in that style, as '88 Z51s got 17x9.5s.

Oh sorry to hear. I think you meant to post this in your thread about snow wheels for your GTA.
