Orignal floor mats... Value?

How much do you think these are worth? I have never seen a new set in my life.

Umm. Not worth $600. Yes, I would love to have a set, but not for that price. I would say MAYBE.. $250 (thats a really long "Maybe")

Re: Orignal floor mats... Value?

I've got an NOS set around here somewhere, still with the paper envelope they came in. For some reason I'm thinking I've got two or three sets in decent condition... Anyway, I wouldn't say they're worth much more than a set from ACC. When they start selling for $300 a set, I'll sell every set I can find. About the only difference between GM and ACC mats is the 1" square GM logo.

I've got a pair of never used blue GM mats I bought for my '83. I searched 3 years for them and paid, I thought at the time, through the nose for them.

There was a gray set that sold for over $500 a year or two ago... they have been out of production for a long time. I remember trying to buy sets in any color in 1996 and the dealer couldn't find them anywhere.

Re: Orignal floor mats... Value?

They're floor mats guys!!! Even though they are original, they aren't worth that much money. The reason, they are new, but the rubber based backing will deteriorate very quickly after being installed and will mar the carpet underneath. The Florida air destroys many rubber products and the floor mats are rubber backed. My carpet still looked new, but the tar like goo left behind by the mats wasn't worth keeping them!

I ALWAYS appreciate Scott's wisdom, to kind of put things back into perspective.

I've been systematically working through part of my parts stash while working on one of my thirdgens, and also trying to clean out the garage... It seems like some foam rubber parts have deteriorated to dust or slime, others are still OK. I hadn't thought to check the back side of the 25 year old floor mats. Guess I'll add it to the to-do list for when the covers come off.

I believe the OEM mats have a ribbed backing, while the ACC are spiked. I have the ACC ones now, and they serve the purpose. I actually prefer the GM ones. They dont seem to shift as much. But like was said... Imposible to find in good shape without selling you car.(which kind of defeats the purpose)

GM mats were made both with the rubber spikes and the relatively smooth backing. I have at least one set of each. I'm not sure if there's a specific date they changed, or which is right for which time period, but I've seen both styles in thirdgens.
