NEED! 87 IROC audio alarms (need 2)
Hi 3rd Gen. I need two properly working audio alarms. Most guys call them door buzzers or chimes or that little annoying thing under the dash. I know lots of fellas rip them out. Did any of you keep them? I know there is more then one type too. I need factory correct 1987 audio alarms.
Thanks!
EDIT: I have one but it doesn't work. It has the very square corners. I also have another one either from another car type or from another year of car and it has slightly rounded corners. I am looking for the square corner type.
2nd EDIT: Heres a pic. I need the square black one on the left. Its 2nd from left as the pic shows a partial of another little black one.
Thanks!

Should be able to get them at any auto parts stores, though most people are happy when they quit working.

I might have a couple,.... but as you might have read in my thread about these things in the electronics forum; I can't test them to see if they work. ( I might be able to test what I've got sometime this week using my buddies 87 TA ) Once I get into the garage later today I dig out the chimes and will post back with more info ASAP.

John. Yep I know there really isn't anyway to bench test these things. Ive snagged a few from junk yards and they don't work. That seems like a lot of effort for you for something that I wouldn't be willing to pay a whole for (without knowing if they work). I'm hoping to find somebody who has at least one hopefully two and they KNOW that they work. Ya I know, good luck right?
But if you're willing to test them and verify they work, I'll give you $20 each. I get them from junkyards for $5 and I keep returning them and getting my money back so I;ll eventually find a working one (I think).

Re: NEED! 87 IROC audio alarms (need 2)
I pulled out 4 of the type you specified and one from an 82 that was a little different ( The 82 has 7 pins like the "blue" chime in the pic ) My Testing station is set-up for Berlinettas right now and that's why I can't test these. I already know there's a compatibility problem with this type of Chime and the Berlinetta wiring.
I'm hoping to be able to use my step-fathers 87 Trans Am to check these things out. I'm sure he'll be willing to let me use his car as long as the opportunity arises. I'm almost certain the 87 TA should use the "blue" chime with 7 pins and I know that year Firebird set-up should have a working Headlight warning chime from it's stock system. I'll try to meet up with him 1 day early this week.
** I do NOT think the Chime you specified has an audible headlight warning; At least, that's what past experience has shown me. ( I know that type of chime has Door and Key audible warnings ) What is the problem that your currently dealing with ??
