6.0 vortec h.o.
I am new to this board and wondered if i could get some advice? Iam going to pick up a 6.0 liter vortes h.o. to put in to my '84 camaro. Just wondered if any one has tackled this type project before? Need some ideas about the wiring and that kinda stuff. Thanks

If by 6.0 you mean out of a 99 up truck? If so, yes, you need to look into the LTx/LSx swap thread, where this thread will be moved shortly.
It is a easy swap and there is tons of tech info on it in the mentioned section.
BTW, welcome ot TGO!

thanks for directing me to that post. It should be a learning experiance for sure. The motor is outa a 2006 chevy 2500 HD truck. I have been told that those motors after they are tuned produce half decent power so it should be alright. Right know the car has a 350 with a .454 cam in it. It worked quit well until it broke a couple of rings.

Man, you really wont understand the power a 6.0 will make with a cam and tune, it might be too much for you. We are talking 550 HP with the right setup.

Joe, welcome aboard thirdgen.org.
Yes, they will make decent power. Note that since the engine is coming from a truck, you will need to change the oil pan and pickup, intake manifold, and front accessories to passenger car/f-body parts. You'll also need engine swap mounts, will need to modify the K-member if you want to keep AC.
Are you getting the transmission as well? You can make your 3rd gen transmission work, but you might as well get what matches the engine.

The intake and alt hit the hood
Using the lower car intake requires fbody accessories to even fit the engine bay

so is the truck intake and throtle body better.... cause i don't have a problem geting another hood and remaning it to work. since i got the motor, computer, and all the harnesses at a smokin deal i can spend some extra money elswere.

Truck intake has good flow comparable to the LS6 intake in the lower RPMs. Upper RPMs, not so much
