Purchased an '84 L69 Z Today
It is rough around the edges but presentable. Will need a lot of little things over time. Drives and brakes straight. Still relatively quick. Paint is good enough for me. Will never be a show winner or runner up. From this point forward please disregard my forum name SeeksClean85Z28.

Congrats! L69 is awesome - it was really the first factory hot rod in the resurgence of the musclecar.
Love the CAMARO CAMARO CAMARO interior. Very 1980's.

Re: Purchased an '84 L69 Z Today
From 2003 to 2007 I owned a mint blue 87 IROC G92 5 speed. It had all options except leather and rear window louvers. Despite the condition differences I like this car more. It's the car for me. To wait for a better one at the right price and distance could have been an exercise in futility. Color, price, motor, transmission, no ttops and LS seats all too irresistible to me.

Re: Purchased an '84 L69 Z Today
Dealer ordered low option car, I suspect to keep the price down with the custom interior with LS seats
AC
cruise
tilt
power locks
hatch release
non cassette am/fm stereo
halogen headlights (if that was an option)
front and rear carpeted floor mats (long gone)
It's only three assembly line units away from this lovely machine:

BTW, that's an Arizona car, so I'm thinking the fan and/or shroud were added to try to improve cooling. Only speculating here. I'm curious to hear others opinions on that one. VIN states L69. Thanks.

This is a quote from the guy selling the car.. A cherry 84 z28 ho 36k miles. Why the hell would you molest this car. Find a roller or something else... My goodness.
The Z/28 is a blast to drive, returns great gas mileage, is inexpensive, to maintain, license, and insure, has tons of aftermarket parts available - and would even be a fantastic candidate to update the drivetrain, for instance drop a newer LS engine and 6 speed transmission in it, the chassis will keep up with no problem.

Just to be clear, Seeksclean did not say that.
This guy did.

Re: Purchased an '84 L69 Z Today
My 87 IROC (when I was 87 B4Z TPI 5 Spd on this forum) had power windows. In fact it was loaded. Back then I recall wishing it was more stripped down. The options were more of a nuisance than help on a collector-use car.
One more option dislike to edit in >> that darned automatic hatch pulldown in the '87! Worked fine after I replaced it, but I'd rather mindlessly slam the hatch shut, or have others do the same without worry.
I would not need cruise, tilt, power locks, rear window defrost on the current Z. But air will be nice whenever I get it rebuilt, and I use the rear hatch release a lot.
The LS seat works well for me, and helps make this car. It pops as a showpiece compared to the standard or custom '84 interiors. Though base vinyl seating has a great look, too.

Re: Purchased an '84 L69 Z Today
I don't know how many years ago that Brighton car sold. I seem to recall seeing a date of 2012 or 13 or such. I looked back now and cannot see a date. I suppose need to remember it's been several years already, and perhaps the idea of changing the 35k [wimpy 305] engine in 2012 was a plausible way to help it sell. After all it was only one of those early thirdgens. Not like a 350 IROC! Ha.
