New to GA

Hello all,

My name is Dennis. I just recently retired from the US Navy and got a job in the Atlanta area. I have been working on restoring a 1991 Camaro RS convertible. I have dropped a 350 in it and the engine itself is completed. I am posting this here because while i do have some mechanical skills, i do not have the expertise to really move forward. As I said, I was in the Navy for a long time and always had buddies i could go to for help when i ran into a snag or needed advise. What i am looking for now is basically a friend. I live in Paulding county near Atlanta and really need someone who is willing and able to help me out. I love this car and I will never give up on it. So please, if you are anywhere near me, let me know. Even if you don't have the skills I am looking for, it would be nice to meet someone who has the love for the third gen like I do. Thanks!

Hi Dennis! Sorry just now seeing this. I live in Douglas County and have an 89 IROC. What type of help are you needing?

Re: New to GA

BG1959... It was good meeting you the other week.

80's AL.... Are you new to Dallas, or have you been out there for a while? Did you ever get to see or race at southeastern dragstrip right past east paulding high school?

I grew up in Dallas and lived less than 2 miles from the drag strip. I remember listening to the cars every fri night as a small child and then when I got big enough, me and friends use to walk through the woods and go stand by the fence and watch the racing.

I moved from Dallas to Bremen when I was a teen, now I'm down here in Bowdon, GA (close to Carrollton).

Not real new...Feb of 04'. Funny story about the dragstrip. we live right across from EP High. when we came to look at the house...i was out on the back deck and heard the cars make a pass...i looked at my wife real fast, then the realtor...and she put her head down.." oh yeah" she said"there is a race track right down the street". I said to my wife..." this house just went to the top of the list!!" of course....they closed it down that year after we moved in.....that's my luck, right there

cool that you guys got to sneak in and watch....made me think about sneaking into High School football games back in Pittsburgh, PA.

I'm over around ya'll, just a little south of downtown Woodstock. Hoping to be back on the road before summer is over. Have meant to go to that show at Wendy's for a while, but never made it.

Re: New to GA

This is probably the earliest I'm going to be on the road. But a good show, and just down in McDonough. I know a few thirdgen guys coming up from S GA, and there were a couple of other local folks there last year, but I couldn't make it.

All Gen Camaro and Firebird 9-24 @ Summit Racing

Pic I stole from someone from last year.

Finishing up an LS swap. It runs, but needs tuning and a lot of tyding and finishing up stuff before a drive that long. Yes, show is not on a Monday, sorry, updated post.

Is that who that is? I had seen them up there but didn't know when/what club.

Edit, I actually have liked them on FB already but I guess I was not getting updates on my page. According to their FB it is every Second Friday of the month from 6-9.

There is also a hot rodders club that meets every Tues morning @ Marietta Diner. I'm always at work and it is just hot rods it seems, but some cool cars.
