Buying New Shocks, Need Ideas
I am about to upgrade the shocks in my 89 from "non-existent" to "what a smooth ride you have...", but I have never had to purchase shocks before.
I need to buy shocks that are dependable and make for a nice, comfortable ride. I don't need racing suspension and I'm not wanting to change the height of the ride. Does anyone know of any reliable brands that makes their car ride so smooth you fall asleep driving?
Thanks for the feedbacks!

The Moog shocks didn't let me specify anything older than a 93 camaro, is there something I need to know about them? And thanks for the feedback you two, I'm doing research on KYB thanks to what you guys mentioned.

I don't think your gonna get a "what a smooth ride you have..." outta one of our cars , i went with monroe's because I don't do any track/racing and they feel better then the stock set from 84 but still rides like a sports car.

AC Delco, Gabriel, Monroe, KYB. All acceptable quality, priced right, and will ride nice. I would go for the KYB.

if on a budget, grab some kyb's. priced just slightly higher than monroe or gabriel, but definitely better quality and ride. if you've got a bigger wallet, i'm told koni reds are really nice (my wallet's not that big right now)

I bought Koni yellows because they are adjustable. I thought that the softest setting should be good for me, but nope, to harsh for my taste so i'm gonna tear them out for something smother!
cliffnote for you: don't buy Koni yellow

I'm not saying that they are bad. The op asked for a comfy ride and the yellows are the opposite.
I just checked mine if they are really on the softest setting. Can't imagine that they could be any stiffer than this.... but they were on the lowest setting.

Interesting. I run Koni Yellows and found they were waaaaay more comfortable than I was expecting. Light years better than the 20 year old struts/shocks I had on there, that's for sure.

Re: Buying New Shocks, Need Ideas
My Konis ride stiff, but I'm riding on cut IROC springs too. The springs are very stiff and that affects the ride. The Konis make sure I don't bounce around though. Very firm and stable feel to the car.
I got a buddy with Koni reds and he cant stand how rough THEY ride, and they're softer than the yellows.
It may just be truly subjective, but my car rides a bit harsh due to the cut stock springs, and I still dont mind too much.
