Don't drill anything!! Get a 1/4" universal and an extension, I might have used a tiny wrench too, the dash just needs pulled back

ok got it! I'm assuming you used a super small 7mm wrench? and would it be easier to just pull dash pad off then unbolt a few screws and move the dash forward some?

Yes 7mm. Honestly I can't remember, I *think* I had the pad off and pulled the dash itself back some. I know I had the instrument cluster and center console put but it's been so long. It'll be evident what needs to come out move when you dive into it good luck! And I recommend getting the brass heater core, I didn't have any luck with the aluminium one but others here have made it work

Re: Heater Core and 82-86 Vehicles
got the core out, I had purchased a aluminum heater core due to the fact I couldn't find any brass cores! I ended up only having to pull the dash pad and the trim panels underneath the glove box. thanks for the advice, hopefully installation will be much easier!!

If it has not been mentioned....
Finding and or verifying a coolant leak can be done using this.
= UV Dye = http://www.autozone.com/test-scan-an...?checkfit=true
and
= http://www.autozone.com/test-scan-an...uestid=5173492
And yes the yellow glasses are needed.
Just put it in and let it circulate for a while bringing the car up to running temperature. Best to let it cool down.
Wait until its really dark outside and start probing with the light.
The leak will glow a "Fluorescent Green". Hard to miss really.
(some wires and components can give off a small glow all on there own)
You might have to lift the car to see the hole under side.
Then look at the passenger floorboard and or take off the panel above it and try to get a good look there.
I suggest doing all the above even if you find a leak else ware to cover all the bases. There could be more than one.
They offer this dye for engine oil, transmission fluid, and A/C systems.
Even fuel I believe.
Take a look = http://www.autozone.com/test-scan-an...mString=search
