Fuel Pump Issue

When I turn the key forward, the fuel pump primes and then shuts off. Car may start momentarily but then dies. The fuel pump is not pumping. If I apply 12 volts direct to fuel pump the pump runs just fine.

I replaced the fuel pump relay and still have the same problem. Any Thoughts?

Re: Fuel Pump Issue

The pump is supposed to prime for 2 then shut off when you kick the key 4ward.

Now when you start the car and it dies, maybe the ECM isn't getting a crank signal from the ign module or the oil psi switch is bad?

Re: Fuel Pump Issue

You didn't Tate where you applied the power to the pump, at the relay to eliminate c100 ? At the oil pressure switch ? Have you checked the fender well fuse ?

Thanks guys - this will really help me troubleshoot. Fender fuse is good. Applied power to pump at relay. I'll try replacing the oil pressure switch in a few days when it warms back up here.

Re: Fuel Pump Issue

To bypass the ops for testing make a jumper wire and connect to the orange and grey wire. The ops will be above the oil filter or back next to the distributor.

Re: Fuel Pump Issue

Did you get it fixed? I have a similar problem, but engine never fires. I hear the fuel pump relay kick on then off. Going to bypass the relay too, to test it.
