Need help with gearing and what spline number to get
Hey third gen my rear end blew on my 92 trans am and I was going to purchase another rear end from a third gen member but it looks like shipping is going to be too costly. (If any one has one I would be interested) I was looking into getting new gears and match it up with stock. I think the stock gearing is 3.73 correct me if I'm wrong. And I've heard that the 92 trans am came stock with 28 spline? I am also going to replace the axle bushings and bearings. Thank you in advance

No 3.73 is not stock gearing for your car.
The '92 trans am came with 2.73, 3.08 and 3.23.
5.0L auto got 2.73
5.0L 5 speed got 3.08
5.7L had 3.23
Yes it would have 28 spline axles.
Setting up the ring and pinion is not simple, not something you just bolt on. You need to get backlash, contact pattern, etc set right. This takes skill and a couple of special tools.
There is no such thing as axle bushings.. You have axle bearings and seals

It would be helpful if you would go back to your "about me" in your profile and put in your location so if someone close to you has what you need they can let you know. We have no idea where you are.

Ok. You know, rebuilding a rear end properly will probably cost around $1000
