T56 Bracket issue

Hello Guy's, I have just fitted my 383 stroker and T56 after two years of getting all the right parts ready to go. I have to say the Hawk T56 trans Bracket is total crap. It was too short frame rail to frame rail by 2". I had that sorted and it fitted great the the frame rails. Today I dropped the motor and trans in to the car and found that the trans bracket is no where near the right shape to go anywhere near the thrans mount bush. Has anyone got any pic's or drawings they could or would email me Thank Paul

Re: T56 Bracket issue

Sounds like you may have a crossmember that suits 84-92. Your 82 is different.

In modifying it to suit the 82 crossmember bolt locations, did you also allow for a change in the trans. mount location?

Re: T56 Bracket issue

Thank you for your reply, I asked Hawk for a 1982 T/A trans Bracket for a T56 in to a 1982 T/A with twin exhaust system. The one I had was great with no trans in after it was lengthened by 2" in the trans mount/bush area. It bolted right on no issue. It seem's the 1982 in 2" wider frame rail to frame rail, but the bolt holes were spot on with the bracket. When I fitted the motor and trans, the bracket was off the car and then when I went to bolt it back on, it was completely the wrong shape and would go nowhere near the trans mount/bush and as such would not go anywhere near the frame rails ?. I did ask for the correct one for my build and they did say I may have to play around with the bolt holes, but other than being 2" to narrow it was a good fit. thanks Paul.
