As far as I know, yes it will. You may have to change/buy axles if the S10 carrier is from the early 90's and uses 28 spline axles rather than the 26 splines.

The S10 uses the Governor Lock for it's limited slip differential. It's a piece of crap and should not be used in a high performance car. It will hold up all right if you don't abuse it, but what fun is that.

Your axles must be the same spline as the axles in the S10 rear end. A 7.5 rear end is a 7.5 rear end, whether it's in a S10 or a 3rd gen Camaro. Internal parts are the same, although there were changes made over the years. You will have to set the pinion depth, bearing preload and backlash when you put it in your rear end.

I know the truck it's was in was square 80s, early 90 style. He selling it like 100 buck. My z28 serves more as fun daily and occasionally maybe go to local 1/8 mile Friday fun night. Think it would be worth the effort or a few good launches and go caput?

The 7.5 was upgraded to 28 spline axles in '90, so if this is a '90 or later then it's not going to work with your 26 spline axles.

The Governor Lock is called the Gov Bomb for a good reason. If it doesn't split through the middle and wipe out the whole rear end then the governor will break and you will be spinning one wheel again.

Re: S10 carrier/gears work in z28?

I have to agree with the gov bomb comment. Our 1987 suburban had a gov lock 8.5" 10 bolt. This is a 190 HP 350/700r4 stock burb and at the time was not used for towing. Just daily driving... The gov bomb let loose 3 times already in 5 years or so. After replacing the third rear end in the truck, I said the hell with it and swapped in a chevy 12 bolt open rear.

All 3 times, it split down the middle like BGH mentioned and took out the whole rear end
