Those with older 3rd gen pedals - Clutch Safety Switch
Well I couldn't find this anywhere and have posted it a few other spots so sorry if this is a re read. I wanted to use the pedals because A I already had them, and B they have the rods on them to give the clutch some extra stability.
I had installed the older 3rd gen style clutch pedals 82-85 I believe and then realized there is no option for the clutch neutral safety switch anymore. The only switch like that I could find that is on a slider was for the trucks for the same years. It operates as a push style where the fbody one operates as a pull. Without any other options I decided to go ahead and order it and see if I could reverse engineer it. And it works fine. So those in the same predicament just buy this one and change it over. You don't have to swap pedals or weld up tabs to put a button style or bypass it for no reason.
The part number is NS-88 and it is readily available for about $15. It comes like this.
I just pulled the metal cover on the back off and it looks like the internals are identical to the 3rd gen style.
Pull the rod out and pull the clip off. I cut some ridges on the other side of the rod for the clip so it has something to grab onto. Then just turn the rod around, stick it back in and snap the clip back on.
Pop the cover back on, install it on the pedals making sure the clip is in the right spot to depress the plunger and you are good to go.

I need the bolt that holds this switch on. Does anyone have any ideas? Is there some type of bolt size tester to screw into the clutch pedal to determine size?

I have a 1990 car with these older pedals (car used to be an automatic). I modified a safety switch as you showed above (thanks!) but I can't install it. There just isn't room between the pedals and the fuse box under the dash... Is this something with the 1990 and up cars maybe? Anyone know a reasonable workaround? I'd like to add a starter safety switch...
