Widest Rim on 3rd Gen Using 4th Gen Rear End?
Im looking to swap my stock rear end out of my 88 Iroc with a 4th Gen rear end and Im wondering what kind of wheel options that will give me from a maximum width perspective. I dont what to do any modifications if possible. Ive used spacers in the past with a set of z06 wheels and didnt like it. Now that I may get a 4th gen rear I wont have to use spacers hopefully because the axle is wider by a few inches. Ive searched for this and Ive found tons of info but it mostly pertains to either 3rd gen rears on 3rd gen cars or 4th gen rears on 4th gen cars. Does anyone know what the max width rim I can safely fit on a 3rd gen camaro using a 4th gen rear? (Wheel size, width, offset, backspacing) I dont care about the front. Id rather leave the front at 8 inch width. Thank you in advance for any help.

Same as any other thirdgen rear. Only thing that changes is the backspacing.
In general 11" wide 315 series tires is all i would go. Nothing over 27" tall, else u will reallly need to beat the wheel wells in alot to clear the tire

Thanks Alot. I appreciate it. I guess then the only difference is I only need less back spacing with a 4th gen rear end right? Seems like the logical thing to me. Pls correct me if I am wrong tho.

Correct, the only thing that will change is how much offset or backspacing you can run. It does not change how much tire you can fit

Re: Widest Rim on 3rd Gen Using 4th Gen Rear End?
Since I will be using a 4th gen rear end on a 3rd gen camaro, does anyone know of some good rim options that would actually work on the car without having to use spacers on the front axle. I want to obviously have matching style rims on the car but I dont want to have to use spacers on the front to make it work. Are there rim options that have different offsets and backspacing so I could achieve this?

Theres nothing wrong with spacers. i have used them for years
Other than that you will just have to find something like a 8" rim front with 4-4.5" backspacing or so and i'd say 10-11" wide rear rim and around 7-7.5" backspacing

Re: Widest Rim on 3rd Gen Using 4th Gen Rear End?
I still need to match up the offset though right? If I buy rims for the front for example with 4.5 backspacing, I still need to have the same -45mm of offset like the factory rims to make it fit correctly right? Or do I only need to consider backspacing for the right fit? By "right" fit I mean it will sit in a good position that wont rub and wont be sticking outsider of the car or sitting way inside the fender well. Same for the Rear, If I use 7-7.5 backspacing am I good on the rear while using the 4th gen rear end? Or do I need to make sure the rim I get has an offset at +50mm or more like the stock rims would be to fit right on the car

Just worry about the backspacing which basically is offset
Lol your best bet is to measure everything
10" rim with 0 offset will come in 5" backspacing as standard. Its just half the rim width
8" is 4" backspacing with 0 offset
If rim has 79mm offset like a c6 19x10" wheel, the backspacing is just 10"/2 + 79mm. Or 8.11" backspacing. Thats not including any additional space from rim lips and thicknesses but thats relatively minor differences
On my car with 4th gen rear i fit a 305/35/19 on a 19x10 rim. Its c6 vette wheel with additional 5/8" slip on spacer. I beat the hell out of the wells to keep tire from rubbing inside but its tucked under the outside lip

15X4 Weld Lights in the front with matching 15x10" in the back. 7.5" back spacing in the rear with 28x11.50x15 ET Streets. Takes some manipulation with a big f@#cking hammer in the rear fender wells but it works, and works well.
