Shaved Handles
Shaved Handles
Ok, I did a search, really, I found lots of information on pricing, installation, bad scenarios, etc.
I have a question about the basic way they work. Ok, I understand that the rod that unlatches the door is basically disabled in the handle, in order for the lock solenoids and door poppers to work. These are setup by remote, correct? What do you guys do to open your door from the inside? Use the remote, or wire another switch?
Are most kits setup to one button to open both doors, or do some have two separate buttons?
If a switch is used to open the doors from the inside, how many switches do most kits use? Do they give you one for the exterior (the popular emergency button for locking your keys in the car?)
Thanks,
Mathius

I don't have shaved handles but, I can tell you that the inner and outer handles work seperate of each other (though do the same function). Taking off the outer handle doesn't affect the function of the inner handle.
Steve (Pillsbry10) has shaved handles and there is a remote button for each door.
I would assume most kits open the doors individually since that would be quite an inconvenience to have to shut both doors every time you want to get in the car.

Right...I don’t have them either, but from what i've read, the solenoid would attach the outer door handle rod (since this is the one that is being removed) and the interior handle is left untouched. I’d be extremely surprised to see a kit that only uses one button for both doors. That’s very inconvenient. Buttons can be rigged in the inside of the car too, wired to the solenoid so you can fire it with the remote and the button. I remember a forum member here made some custom door panels that had no interior handles, just a big button. Looked very nice...good luck with your project; I’ll be doing the same thing next summer.
The inner handle can still be used when you have installed the shaved door kit....
Keep the handle on the inside and you don't have to worry about opening it with the kit when you need to get out....
Two buttons, one for the driver's door and one for the passenger.....
I got rid of mine and never looked back.....:lala:
