laptop troubles can't tune

I bought this laptop from ebay it seemed to be something that would work for the Gen6 tuning.. One problem it had when I 1st got it was a password.. Don fixed that for me and I was able to get it going.. It also has a Dc plug problem.. It's the only power source, as the 2 main battery's don't hold charge.. Then now the dc in is totally out.. I'm wondering is this laptop worth paying to fix the Dc problem.. About how much would something like that normally cost? Then I have to consider I need to get the battery's replaced.. Because I need to use the Cig lighter for Lm1.. Im just wondering If I should just look for another laptop.. It does seem to be kinda hard finding one with the battery's guaranteed and with win 95 Dos and a 366mhz and good condition..

The repair and the batteries might well depend on the make and model. You can try to search ebay for some extra batteries, however if the power port doesn't work then I don't think batteries are going to do you any good either. As far as using the cigarette lighter I would just purchase an invertor like the one I bought. It plugs into the cigarette lights and provides you with two plugs

P.S. Don has the same invertor

A used laptop off eBay can be risky. You'd probably be better off buying a refurb'd laptop from the place Russ uses, if price is a concern.

Otherwise, you can get good deals on brand new Dell laptops for around $700.

Yeah a Refurbished laptop may be a good way to go.. The thing is it needs to be Old.. And 366 mhz or less.. I may check to see how much it will cost to fix mine...

Why does it have to be "old"? Does the software not accomidate running on "newer" machines? Is the software purely DOS based?

Hey thanx, you already helped me out. You helped me out on the HPTuners forum, I'm under PsychoGTO there. I'm deciding on where to get it done at, either at Magnaflow or the one you recommended me. One more thing which software am I gonna need if you can pm me with the info. Thanx a lot
