I dont know if they have any that are "The best " BUT they have a few brands out there that are VERY good ...They are all prabably parralell when it comes to quality ....Taylor , MSD , Jacobs ,Moroso . I'll say Accel to , but people have had there problems with them I know . i have Accel as you see in my sig , Im pretty pleased with them . I do know that TAYLOR has a lifetime warranty on there custom fit wires that dont have to be made .

when it comes to wires IMO one brand is just as good as another, such as MSD, Jacobs, Taylor. When it comes to plugs I would stay away from platinum plugs, or plugs with multiple electrodes, I have had nothing but bad luck with them. I like autolite racing plugs, or NGK, but you can ask 10 different people and you'll get 10 different brands of plugs. As for the ignition I would stay away from Accell, I have all Accell Ignition, including, distributor, module, cap, rotor, coil, and plug wires, and hate it, I wish I would spent the money and went with the MSD with 6al box. I would say go with MSD.

Why do you hate your Accel ? Is it due to some bad luck with parts ? I can relate to that if it is . I ordered a cap and rotor for my car , it was defected .

MSD superconductor 8.5mm wires, they only 40 ohms per foot of resistance. The less the resistance the hotter the spark.

NGK or AC delco plugs. Stay away from gimmick plugs.

after I switched to accell my car never ran right, and it starts to miss when it hits about 6400 rpms, the stock HEI didn't miss until about 7200, I gave away my stock hei so I can't switch back. I'm gonna put a 6-al box a try and see if it cures it.

ya MSD wires have the least resistance unless you get the solid ones. but those are good for a dialy driver I have heard.

For plugs, either bosch or delco single platinums- the +2 or +4s are a waste- the spark can only take one path. for wires, i just buy the lifetime guarantee ones from the parts store, and i highly recommend to get ones already fit for your car, fitting universal ones are a PITA. the only ignition box i've ever done was an accel 300+ for a buddy, and we were very impressed with the results and ease of install. I believe that if looking at degree's of crank rotation and spark energy, accell and holley are pretty close and better than any other comparably priced units. the accell is very affordable, and includes the coil.

I can see where ANY HEI would have trouble keeping up with you!!!

You definitely need to go for one of the electronic gizmo boxes in order to turn those rpms.

I went with with MSD 8.5mm wires w/ AC Delco Rapidfire plugs @ .045 gap. I also installed the MSD Blaster 2 coil and Hypertech cap and rotor at the same time. I'm extremely pleased with all of the parts with the exception of the Hypertech cap and rotor.....just not made very well.....an improvement over stock, but I probably would have been happier with an MSD cap.

If you want the BEST sparkplug wires then you only have one choice MAGNECOR, they have the best wires you can buy period!!!
Check out there site:

http://www.magnecor.com/magnecor1/main.htm

Read all the tech articles and you will know why.

Check the resistance on the magnecor wires, you will find that it is a few thousand ohms per foot. They are not the best wires, I have used them before and they are junk compared to the MSD 8.5. Check the resistance, less resistance=more power.

I would rank MSD #2, they do have lower resistance but that is just a lot of hype they use to sell wires. What is not generally understood is that as a result of the laws of electricity, the potential 45,000 plus volts from the ignition coil does not flow through the entire the length of fine wire used for a spiral conductor like the 1 volt DC voltage from a test ohmmeter, but flows in a magnetic field surrounding the outermost surface of the spiral windings (skin effect). The same skin effect applies equally to the same pulsating flow of current passing through carbon and solid metal conductors.
A spiral conductor with a low electrical resistance measured by an ohmmeter indicates, in reality, nothing other than less of the expensive fine wire is used for the conductor windings. I like Magnecor because it doesn't make any claims to increase horepower like everybody else does, it just makes a good very durable wire, I've been running them for years next to my headers and they still work like new, unlike some other wires I have tried.

Have you ever tried a set of the newer msd superconductor wires, back to back with your magnecor? The resistance on the magnecor is so high! It has been a while since I tested any, but I think it was above 4000 ohms per foot. Thats cool that you are happy with them.

nick

The quality is very good with magnecor, but performance wise, I do not think they made a difference. Where as with the MSD you could defeinitly tell a difference, the car really liked them.

Car: 85 IROC-Z / 88 GTA
Engine: 403 LSx (Pending) / 355 Tuned Port
Transmission: T56 Magnum (Pending) / T5
Axle/Gears: 3.42 / ?
I had the MSD Superconductor wires on my IROC. Their adjustable boots NEVER stayed bent. Car ran poorly, usually on 7 cylinders. Yanked off my $100 wires, put some $18 Advance Autoparts wires on and the car has run beautifully sense.

Wires make virtually no difference in performance.

The only Accel product I've found to be good is their
hi-performance point sets for point ignitions.
For everything else I'd buy MSD.

Take the MSD 6al ignition box. Even thou it may be overkill
on most peoples cars, They do work well.

Their MSD HEI replacement parts are probabily the best on the market.

While I've had no troubles with Accel, and I still have one of their Billetech Distributors in my 92 RS, I'm using MSD 8.5mm wires (also MSD GM Blaster Coil) and AC Delco Rapidfire plugs.
MSD is IMO the best ignition parts manufacturer period.
They offer the biggest line of ignition-related products and all of their stuff is top-notch.
You probably won't notice any difference in plugs from any of the good manufacturers, even if you spend more on the super-high tech ones.
