AFR carb intake vs RPM intake
i was just wondering how these 2 carb'd intakes performe with a set of AFR 190 heads on a 350 crate motor block?
We are gonna couple them with a XE 274hr or XE282 cam---what do you think about this set up??

Why not consider the Weiand Stealth intake idle-6800 rpms for only $110.

I've never seen the AFR intake, so REally can't compare it.
The Performer RPM intake is one of the best dual plane intakes in my opinion. I think it would be a great choice. they give power across the whole range.
The Only things i dont' like about them are these... and it's with all edelbrock intakes i've dealt with.. the holes aren't tapped deep enough for stock bolts half the time, and the vac port behind the carb is useless ifyou use a 4150 holley without at least a half inch spacer.
my only two gripes with them.
The only benefit i've ever seen the stealth intake provide is that it's short, and fits under a stock hood well..
The RPM intake is a great street intake, and really compliments the xe274 cam well in my motor. It's completely streetable. power booster brakes and all.
the 282 cam is a real fendershaker, if you can rig up a vac can to work the brakes you'll like it. but it's a bit on the wild side for a streetable 350

Did you actually run a stock manifold with the 274 cam prior to running the performer rpm. I'm curious because I am using a stock alluminum one from a truck with a 270 hr cam and it revs fine to 5500 rpm? I don't want to make the change to aftermarket if the increase in minimal.

The intakes sold by AFR appear to be the same as
the Professional Products CYCLONE an TYPHONE intakes.
I would not be at all suprised at all if they are one in the same.
www.professional-products.com
These Made in China "power +" intakes seem to work well.
Casting quality seems to be very good. Worth a look.
