Floods are coming from a bigger carb? It's a good thing GM never used something bigger than that, like a Quadrajet.

yeah floods... I made that mistake once before put a 750 ( I know it not that big of a carb) on a mild mod. 305 ...lol ..the plugs that thing went through ...and it ran baadd ...so we droped it down to a 650 and it worked and ran like a dream.

Flooding doesn't come from having too large of a carb, it comes from having the floats set wrong, or a bad needle and seat, or an internal leak, or some other problem.

air flow research uses this formulas.

carburetor cfm required=(CID x Maximum RPM) divided by 3456. i don't know how accurate it is but it might give you an idea.

Oh yeah. - That formula works for a motor w/ 100% effieciency. They said something like 65% is a typical motor, 75-85% is a typical hipo motor and about 95%+ for motors like pro stock. - They say to acount for this you run a smaller carb. If your calculation says run a 780, run a 750.

So by the sounds of it a 625 would do him good.
