If you wanted to move your powerband up more, you should've went with the Performer RPM. The regular Performer is meant for more low-end grunt. It's all in what you want. I have an RPM on my Firebird and I'm ordering a regular Performer for my big-block 66 Caprice.

i would def go with what you want.. the good thing about the performer your getting and not the rpm is the one you want bolts right up to our tbi's! you dont have to elongate the bolt holes on and angle like the rpm!

I had the performer RPM "power package" (before the package was invented though...)

It was decent behind a 2800 stall 3.42 geared car, made about (you guessed it) 420 horses at the motor @ 6,000 rpms..

what I love about the heads is they are perfect for high rpms and relativelly short runner, and they come gasket matched to a felpro 1205 (same as AFR 190's), and on top of all that, I spin the motor to 6700 rpms occasionally with the springs they came with, and no float whatsoever, even over the past 3 years I've owned them.

Now im using them with my TPI / commander 950 combo, 250 shot of crack, and an XD262 cam. excellent heads. for the price, the only ones that even come close are the AFR's and those are a little rougher in the combustion chambers than my edelbrocks. I just got a set of AFR 195's and you can TELL they are Computer numerical controlled because of the way they are cut up. nice heads too, those afrs.

Hmm, I was getting quite a few negative reviews on Edelbrock's stuff. Maybe it bears looking into?

Are you kidding about the edelbrock heads? I've heard that Trickflow makes a pretty good head for the price.

Not at all. the edelbrocks came with higher lift springs and much better valves and a smoother combustion chamber than AFR's heads. Dont get me wrong ill choose AFR over Edelbrock any day of the week, its just that once you get the AFR heads you have to switch springs and valves and get a little porting going on... then you have a great head. for the price, the edelbrocks come very impressive.

As for trickflow... I had a set on my rustang for about a year. the darn rocker studs kept backing off on me. i loctited the all, and one still came loose!
then i had one rocker stud "sink" into the head... a nightmare...
I traded them to a guy for some ford X303 heads... the sold those on Ebay for $1000 and got some AFR 195CC heads... which is what I am putting on my 383 motor when i finish my commander 950 install.
