Kumho's vs BF Goodrich

which would you guys suggest
BFG radial T/A's vs ECSTA Supra 712
both 245's on 16 inch rims
Dry Traction, Wet Traction, Snow Traction and durability. need tires on the Iroc and want to know what you think. the kumho's are a hair cheaper but not enough to convince me that they are head and shoulders above the BFG's. what do you guys think

I've got the BF Goodrich G-force KDWS tires and I love them. Excellent wet traction. Unless you are stupid or careless its pretty careless to break the tires loose on wet pavement.

They aren't very noisy either, even at 100mph+.

Straightline performance is good, but I haven't had many other tires to compare them too. Wear seems to be good, I've driven on them for about 3,000 miles now and they seem to be wearing well.

I have both...Kumho's (17 inch) on my IROC and BFG Radial T/A's (16 inch) on my RS. So far I can't tell a real difference. This is my first experience with Kumhos. They are Ecstas and seem to have a stiffer side wall than the BFGs (that may be due the size). I have had BFG's before and have been very happy with them...they have excellent tread wear. Money wise, I paid less for the 17 inch Kumho's than I did for 16 inch BFG's. Either way, I don't think you could go wrong.

ok wait did anyone look at what 2 tires this was? bfg's are good no doubt depending on which onces. but radial ta's are not their best. I had radial ta's back in 91 and they came out way way way before that. radial tas are not the best tires.

lets see snow sucked, wet marginal and dry was good, handling huh mushy at best. I've run 712s too, handling was far better then radial ta's and zr rating is much better then the s rating a ta gets.

go to tirerack and compare the tires rating and read what other people felt about them along with how they drove their car as compare to how you would say you drive yours.

personally I wouldnt buy radial ta's again or touring hr-4's either but bfg does make good tires depending on what you buy. kdw's real good as are radail all terrians like i run on my truck.

just my 2 cent.

Both are good tires, but they both have very low treadwear numbers, so you will be replacing them sooner than you may expect. That said, I like the Kuhmo's. Both tires have terriffic dry grip, but I think the Kuhmo's were a little more stable in the rain. The Kuhmo's also are slightly narrower, or at least, have a very vertical sidewall, which makes them look skinny. The BFG's are a little noisier, but they give you a little bit of warning before they let go, in contrast to the Kuhmos, which act just like the V700 racing slick, which holds on like a porcupine on velcro, untill it lets go.

MASSIVE EDIT!: I wasn't paying attention to which BFG's you were talking about. I thought they were the T/A KDW's, which are some real gumballs. The plain Radial T/A (KDWS) is just a run-of-the-mill all-season tire. Nothing special there, compare it to the Eagle RS-A. The Kuhmo 712 is a real ultra-Hi-Po tire.

Recap: For $100, the BFG KDWS will last longer and do better in the snow, but the Kuhmo will dust it everywhere else.

thanks for all the info guys. from what i've read i think i will go with the 712's they sound like a better tire overall. i'm not to worried about the tread life seeing as this is my last year of high school then i will be going to college and the car will either become a rented garage queen or sold i have got a few things to pay off then i plan on getting these tires. maybe i should paint my rims black before i put the new tires on. hmm i wonder if i will get to that.

No traction compared to the Kuhmo's? My KDWS are great, nice quiet ride, excellent wet and snow traction. And they did damn good at the drag last time I was there.

They are a good tire, and unless you've had both on the SAME car then you really can't compare them!

I'll muster one up for the BFG kdws's- i was pullin 2.0 60's at the track this past week with them- with a stick none the less too lol

Great tire, i did have much for wear issues- i got about 25,000 miles out of this set, and the fronts are still about 1/4 tread (rears are a diff story )

I've always like the bfg tires, i've had 3 sets- i have gotten about 25k out of each one, regardless of if it was the kdw or the kdws.... the kdws have gone a little further than the kdw's tho- just because its a harder coumpound to begin with...

The KDWS also come with more tread to begin with. The tread wear rating is 400 on them.

radial t/a, radial t/a not kdws get it right people. if it was kdws or 712 I would probably argee with the kdws.

here take a look: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....omCompare1=yes

Trust me they are not the best tire out there. I've had both and I know, radial t/a's are a 20+ yr old design. classic yes, best handling definately not.

Radial t/a's suck... no two ways about it- infact, i threw a belt with a set because i went 10mph over the rated speed...

I'm confused to what BFG tire your talking about, but I had a set of BFG Drag Radial Comp T/A's on the back of my Iroc...best investment I made by far.

I broke the tranny mounts 3 times
