headliner group purchase
I know this has been asked in the past but has kinda died away because it was in the V6 forum. A lot of us seem to have problems with these things and a group purchase would seem logical. Would anyone be willing to hook us up with a group purchase for an ABS headliner? I've been putting mine off for a while now waiting for a knockout price to come along. Maybe if someone wants to orchestrate this and one of the sponsors to give us a good deal if we get enough people this could be done. Do we have any takers?

the best proce i ahve found so far is $215 for the entire kit or $150 for the headliner only i think, the other prices i have found are around 250-270, i have a feeling if we go for a group purchace through one of our sponsors we will only land back at 215 anyway...

Or... You could just go to your local craft store and buy a few yards of foam-backed fabric and some 3M spray adhesive, and just replace the old fabric. Wouldn't cost over $20 then...

well for one i tried that and by the time you buy the glue, i was into it for about $30....
also i do not suggest this for t-top headliners, it seems like it owudl be easy on a hard top, but let sput it this way, i wasted my $30.... the entire thing went on great, but then when i went to wrap the amterial around the 4 inner corners it was jsut too tight to get over the edge and if you relieve it with a slit ten it will show since you cna see aroudn the edge a little when it is installed....
IF you ware going to try this, or if i were to try again,
definitly start in teh midddle and work to those corners and then the front and back... wrap teh material around as you go , don't lay it flat and glue the big flat spots and then wrap and glue, thtat woud work everywhere but those corners....

o-k, i think we can do this through hawks. a headliner shipped to your home would cost $195.00. i can get ten shipped to me for$140.00 each. you would then need to pick them up from me or i can ship to you for an additional charge. let me here some feedback, ie. how many people are up for this? prefer to do it local for peps from north jersey, central jersey, p.a. and n.y.-if your willing to drive to meet me you can save over 50 bucks-that is like getting 25% off on a new headliner. let me know....

First- A friend of mine got a t-top ABS headliner from Hawks and he says it was perfest.
I just got one for my no t-top car from F-Body Motorsports. I have mixed feelings on it.
Real pain to work with since it isn't as flexible as the original material. The cut out for the dome light was just a small square that I had to enlarge and extend towards the front, and the visor and seat belt cutouts were off by about 3/8".
That stuff is a real pain to trim. I went through about 7 razor blades trimming it, and used a pair of nippers to in the tight areas.
I was leaving dents in it everywhere I touched it, and where ever it rested on something in the car- like the belt guides. I was afraid they were going to be permanent, but they were all gone by the end of the next day.
It also leaves a gap around the dome light since it is so stiff and doesn't match up to it quite right.
But it looks great other than that. In hindsight, I would have rather have had mine recovered.
