For those of you with UMI Subframe Connectors...

How do they fit? Any pictures? I know they have installed pics on thier site, but when I look at them, it looks like they are not fitted tightly to the chassis. The car they are installed on looks like it has seen better days and I wonder if it was involved in some kind of accident at one point. I would like mine to fit nice and tight so they are as strong as the can be. Small gaps like that are great places for rust and corrosion to start.....

Thanks for any help!

Re: For those of you with UMI Subframe Connectors...

I've got them but have yet to install them. from what i've seen on here from others that have them, they appear to tuck up nicely under the car and fit great. check out ghettocrusiers LS1 build, he installs some with pictures and you can see how nice they fit.

I've got them installed. (I'm no photographer) IMHO they are super nice. Beefy, easy welding points, look awesome, function awesome (i've yet to drive it), and i got my whole car undercoated so rust won't be an issue plus my car will only see sunny cruising days.

Re: For those of you with UMI Subframe Connectors...

Thanks guys for the pictures and information, I appreciate it. Keep it coming. I don't mind that they don't fit super tight on the floorpan, but I would like where they weld up to fit tight.

I have another idea I am going to pursue too. I was going to purchase and weld them in myself, but I might go to the chassis shop that did the work on my Chevelle. They can TIG them in and do a much better job than I can. They might even want to make thier own as they do with roll cages and such. I'll give them a call after the Easter weekend. I don't mind paying a little extra and having them done right since they will be permenant. Here goes the budget project......

Re: For those of you with UMI Subframe Connectors...

I would recommend the umi connects 10 to 1 over any other connectors I've ever seen.....I've even seen some custom ones that were not near as good....just my opinion...

Cooter... First don't hijack others threads. Second... Post your question in the right section (suspension) board. Third... What would having a carb"d motor have to do with your questions (suspension questions?). EDIT: Also learn to use the feature for your answers.

Re: For those of you with UMI Subframe Connectors...

I'll be soon doing some light modding under the hood and have heard that the subframe connectors are a must. I was wondering though if they really get rid of the squeaks heard in the interior.

Hey, what is done about the exhaust hitting the sfc? our cars do not need any more rattling.

with aftermarket exhaust they don't have any interference at all, with stock exhaust it look like they live you enough room to route up to a 3" pipe

why would you buy "again" something that did not fit?
what was so good about a poor fitting set of sfc's?
i'm not being difficult, i just want to know what was it that made it something you would buy again?

Re: For those of you with UMI Subframe Connectors...

do these weld up on the floor pan as well? im looking into some subframe connectors soon, and id like to have ultimate stiffness in the chassis... i saw the tech article on the KB super connectors, but cant find anywhere where they sell them... i was thinking of making my own with square tubing and having it welded up on the floor board as well as the subframes...

Tony, I installed them myself. Also, I had the car on jackstands and ramps so taking pics from that angle was easy. Now that i got my headers and Y installed the clearance is a good 3/8". Any questions just ask.

Re: For those of you with UMI Subframe Connectors...

I did weld in my self. loock liek good fittment, hope they help me with flexing too.

was a little tricky to weld upside with the MIG, but went out ok.
You need some 90* bend plate to weld it to the floor. There is a gap between the SFC and flor.
Maybe I do that point by point to the flor pan.
