Accessory mounting brackets

I'm looking for a kit that includes alternator and power steering pump mounting brackets, for use with a SBC, with no mounting holes in the heads. I don't need anything fancy, just functional.

Re: Accessory mounting brackets

Hi,
I asked a similar (almost exact) question in the "engine swap" section and you can read what replies I recieved. Basically, change heads was the response,BUT if you go to ebay and look up the store "JNV Specialty Components" you will find just what you need. Now don't buy 'em all, i still need to get those components also and just a warning, it isn't cheap. I think 80.00 for the power steering setup alone, and they do offer combination kits (more money). Check it out and I think you will be happy with what they offer. Hope this helps another person in need. Good luck.

That is exactly why I posted in this forum, and not engine swap or tech, I wanted to avoid everyone's opinions on what heads I should use.

Thanks though, I'll check out that ebay store and your thread.

Re: Accessory mounting brackets

His store site has the schematic dimensions for the brackets and some explainations. He is very open to email questions, so don't hesitate to ask him. He got right back with me on the same problem, now the problem is .......... money.

Re: Accessory mounting brackets

You seem to be doing the same thing as me, a built 327 into a third gen, except my build won't be done for a few months. Which PS brackets did you finally decide on? I don't care what type of water pump I end up using, since I don't have one yet.

Re: Accessory mounting brackets

well i am going with the long water pump brackets since the car it is going into is setup for that so I am looking at the 215R & 215RO for the alternator, and the 402L for the power steering setup. I just looked at his store again and he has added ALOT more options, so there may be a combo setup on the site also. I emailed him, his name is Jeff, and asked his opinion. What I have told you is what he suggested to me. He is really nice to deal with and understands the problem. Hope those numbers help

Re: Accessory mounting brackets

Hi Greg,
Here is the latest from the manufacturer of the accessory brackets about the Power Steering which is important. They got back with me and told me this - "Thanks for your email. I did some more checking on the power steering
pumps that came with the 1985 Camaro. I have some bad news, your pump
does not have the proper attachment on the back side of your pump. Your
85 Camaro pump use a metric fitting for you power steering hose on the
pump. A pump that will work with this bracket and has a metric fitting
is a pump that came on a 1980 Chevrolet Caprice or Impala with a (231)
3.8A V-6 engine.
Hope this info helps out on the retro-fit. Regards, Marty

That seems pretty specific, I don't think the odds are very good that I find one of those. I'll probably end up making my own hoses.
I asked him about my other power steering pump, I'll post up what he says about that when I get a reply.
