Walbro Pumps

Whats up guys? Iv had some problems with walbro pumps and want to know if anyone else has had any. My 1st pump was purchased 8/5/08 and installed in 12/11/09. It went out after about 20 hours run time. I found out there was a recall and contacted them about it, I'm still getting the run-a-round. I purchased another 1 cause it looks like I'm not going to get anywhere with the recalled unit. Get the new pump in, engine fired right up, went inside to grab my license and it dies. Go back outside to crank it up and I dont hear the pump turn on like b4. The pump ran for 2 minutes b4 it quit, the recalled unit lasted way longer!!!!! I'm extremly mad over this, had to drop the tank for a 3rd time, this time I put the 21 year old stock pump back in and she runs great. I'd have to say my experience with Walbro has been terrible. They put out a bad pump and dont want to make good on thier shoddy product and when it comes to the redesigned product they still didnt get it right (from my experience).

Re: Walbro Pumps

If you get 1 bad pump, and they will not replace it, why would you buy another?

Re: Walbro Pumps

I almost bought one of the Walbro pumps from Summit. Decided against it and bought the stock replacement one from Bosch and have never had any problems with that one. I just couldn't see spending the extra cash on the Walbro when I'm on a tight budget and just have a stock rebuilt engine.

So if you're still running on your original pump, you might want to consider just using the one from Bosch. If you're just running a stock engine set up, is there really any reason to use a Walbro?

Re: Walbro Pumps

I bought another 1 cause they supposedly fixed the design flaw and I've always used walbro pumps in my cars. My 93 Eclipse GSX is still going strong after 10 years. I only changed it cause I thought it would be a good idea to do it, not out of nessesity.
