Summit 700R4 Transmission Pan
I just received the Summit Brand transmission pan #433886. My stock pan was warped from being propped up during my 8 month engine build.
My initial impression was somewhat disappointing. The pan itself is significantly heavier than the stock pan and the 'ribs' are barely noticeable. I wasn't expecting huge heat sinks, but something better than a ripple would have been nice. The drain plug is very nice to have.
Also, while installing the supplied hardware, I stripped out 2 transmission threads. Normally I would say this is from over torquing, but this happened just snugging them up. I'm not sure if it is the new hardware to blame, or maybe some previous damage done to the threads. Anywho, I had to go buy bigger bolts so I can drill/tap new threads.
I'll get some pictures up once it's installed

I hate when things like that happen I thought that only happened to me. How about the metal pan that has the tubes running through the body are those any good?

Re: Summit 700R4 Transmission Pan
I bought one and sent it back because I was not pleased with it either. Plus, with my car being lowered that drain bolt was the lowest point under my car. That did not make me feel very comfortable. Why can't tranny pans come with a drain bolt on the side of the pan like oil pans do?

Re: Summit 700R4 Transmission Pan
So this is the inexpensive Summit value brand and not the TCI, Hughes, or Trick Flow deep pan, correct? When I look at that particular page in the Summit catalog I can see the diff between the one you bought and the others. Good to know if I ever change mine.

hmmm just checked my rebuilt 700r4 same lil bumps, not actual ribs like my summit th350 pan. Still I'll take an alum pan that disapates heat better with drainplug over stock.
edit: Also those bumps still equal more surface area than stock pan.
