recommend a full roller rocker for a 91 LB9 305

Can anyone recommend a full roller rocker for an LB9 305. I'm juts looking to upgrade the old stamped steel ones. Just looking for a stock ratio 1.5 ratio set. One that is a good replacement for the original steel ones and still fits under the stock center bolt valve covers.

Check spring lift limit and consider 1.6 for a bit more overall power, since you want to change them anyway...

Might need to look under the covers first to see if you have the slots in the heads for the push rods, or a round hole that requires self align rockers. My 89 has slots, but self align rockers too. Odd combination there on that but I could use either. And I think you need narrow body rockers with the center bolt covers. Pretty expensive upgrade for little gain though seems like.

So one of the things I have seen in getting parts for my LS engine is that LS7 lifters are compatible with 87 and up engines. I have not confirmed this but have seen it a couple times.

you're not gonna see ANY return for your money on a stock engine. You're better off doing something else.

Otherwise, go Comp Ultra Pro Magnum or go home. They're steel so you're not going to have to worry about the fatigue life of aluminum, so if you stay Gen 1 when you get a motor that will benefit from them, they'll be able to carry over without much worry. Comp uses larger trunions and they are rebuildable. Roller tips are just a way to separate people from money. The gains are in the trunion, but that's also where the money is, although Im not sure you'd be able to see them. The stock rocker arms just arent a limiting factor in a stock TPI, stock cammed engine.

I actually just did a stock rebuild on the original engine. The 160,000 mile stamped rockers are about the only thing other than the crank that I didn't replace. I wasn't looking for a big power gain... just figured I'd replace them for piece of mind.

Re: recommend a full roller rocker for a 91 LB9 305

Well, it's one thing to spend a little extra for a little gain on a stock engine, I just dont like aluminum rockers (no personal experience there, so grain of salt necessary...) and prefer the idea of steel ones. But since I think the only long-term durable, reliable for a daily driver or race car type rockers are $300+ a set, it changes the calculus on whether or not it's worth it. But if you see yourself doing somethign radical down the road, something like that will serve you well then. I suppose there will be some friction losses. No idea how much gain that would be, but it's measurable.
