Anyone used this company Enginekits.com
Has anyone used this company (Enginekits.com) to buy cyl heads they seem to be ok and are reasonably priced. Looking for a lower cost head to build up our 305, as an alternate to replacing with a 350, the 305 is tight leaks no oil has 82000 miles on it. Thinking of a cam, headers, some porting on TPI, adj fuel reg, etc. already has 3" cat back.
Thanks

What heads are they advertising?
I wouldn't touch 'em either way. Just a gut feeling, probably newly cast 993 type heads, the last thing you want on your 305 TPI motor.
Is there something wrong with the heads you're currently using? Why not port those ? (since you're thinking of porting the TPI).

They are very well known around these parts. Best prices on parts. If you decide to purchase anything from them, like any mail order service, make sure you know exactly was you want.
I agree with Sonix, just port your stock heads. I'm in the process of doing that right now. Good luck.

How much porting are you doing, do you have a guild you are going by? Are you port matching the runners & plenum? are you changing cams? I guess I should put these questions in the engine forum. So many people say dont work on the 305 put a 350 in. I know that more cubes is more horse but I am not looking for a racer just a better cruiser. Let me know how your progress goes I would really like to stick with the 305.
Thanks

its not the HP thats the big difference between the 305 and 350, its the torque... My 91 Z28 was 230HP new and the 350 Z28 was 245... the torque on mine was 300ftlbs and the 350 was 345ftlbs. Supposedly all 305 5 speed Z28s from '90-'92 had the same cam as the 350 Z28s. Just a little to think about

For the porting:
http://www.sa-motorsports.com/diyport.shtm
Rebuilt the 305, MAC headers, looking into flowmaster 3" CATBACK, 95 rearend.
Polishing the intake, going to use stock runners for now. Can't find any info on how to properly port a SD plenum. I live in California so I have to be smog-legal. Stock cam, however I talked to a comp cam rep today, he suggested 08-501-8. No computer mods needed only springs and machine the spring seats.
