Looking to buy hood

I want to but a ss hood or a ram air Wanted to see where a good place to get one. ASCD is close to me so I could save alot on shipping. But I have seen mixed reveiws on ther hoods the ss to be exact. Dose anyone know if they have fixes there mold? My first choice was GT Fiberglass but I dont think they make ss hoods.

I bought my ss hood through hawks.i thought that was a ASCD one that hawks resold, but it's one they make themselve's.It was well made and fitted well, only had a small bow on the left side, but i dont think you'll ever get perfection with fiberglass.

Re: Looking to buy hood

I got my SS hood like 4 years ago from ASCD and it was damn near perferct. Not too mention they forgot to send me the black plastic mesh insert for the hood scoop and sent it out to me no questions asked. I'd buy from them again.

Re: Looking to buy hood

Re: Looking to buy hood

1FASTZ, as far as a 4th gen SS air cleaner...I think Hawks may have something that would fit but would not neccessarily be sealed off on the hood like a true SS intake. There's about 4" above my plenum to the underside of my SS hood. Also, atleast when I bought mine the underside edges of my hood (where both upper and lower half) of the shells are glued together was unfinished. Leaving a 1" wide "troth" of fiberglass mesh texture. I filled it in with tiger hair resin and then went through the normal finishing steps. I know have a seamless underside / topside transition....very nice!

Re: Looking to buy hood

I had though that the hoods from ASCD had the little "hump" on the left side from the mold? Like I said I would like to buy from ASCD so I can drive down and pick it up but after doing some searching I have seen mixed reviews.

Hmmmmm, I am not fuel injected anymore so I was looking at this hood for my carbed 406. I was wondering if my 14 inch round air cleaner would fit inside the hood. I need some extra clearence for a spacer plate.

Re: Looking to buy hood

No lump on my hood....regarding clearanace for an air cleaner, the scoop portion underneath would certainly fit a 14" diameter or more.

Re: Looking to buy hood

You'll see the hood scoop is WAY large enough for an air cleaner:
