Re: mini ram 1205

the heads should specify what intake gasket is used. usually they are the smaller to mid sized of the choices with less than a 220cc chamber. check summit online and it should give you a gasket size either in details or in recomended parts. hope this helps. i ended up buying the miniram specifically because they offer a 1206 gasket size and are one peice and therefore hold boost pressure better.

Re: mini ram 1205

Go with the Brodix IK or RR series. The 180cc will work best for your application.

Chamber cc depend on what compression you want and what pistons you have.
Check the AFR site; they have the recommended gaskets listed there.

Got this from TPIS on CF. I had asked Tony from Air Flow Research regarding
the port height problem with the new eliminator 195s.:

----------------------------------------------------

Hi Joe-

Tony gave me a call this morning and I thought I'd jump on to give some info.

I saw your pictures you included and the Mini-Ram you have is our part # 500-505 which has a 1204 port size. The AFR 195 and larger use a 1205/6 port size.

The 1204 Mini-Ram has an additional machined surface to allow it to work with a stock type head that has a large valve cover rail. This is the surface you can see right above your ports. The 1205/6 Manifold doesn't have the extra machined surface and the manifold would meet the cylinder head right at the valve cover rail. This would obviously cover the larger than stock port you have with no issues.

The least expensive way to resolve your issue is to weld up your 1204 Mini-Ram and port match it for the AFR heads you have. The second would be to purchase our 1205/6 Mini-Ram which obviously costs more.

In conclusion, there are a few different Mini-Ram parts numbers available for various port sizes- 1204 (stock or up to 180CC or old AFR 190cc), 1205 (195-200 CC), 1206 (210-225CC), and Fast Burn (E-Tec and GM Fast Burn). We also have a LT1 Mini-Ram for big inch LT1s.

I'm happy to answer any questions anybody has about what Mini-Ram to use with specific heads or anything else you're wondering. Calling is always the best and quickest way to get info.

I'll second the Brodix IK 180. It is probably the BEST street use aluminum small block head you will find. I've used them in the past and can recomeend them from personal experience. The customer pulled AFR 195s off of his 350 in a 1985 Monte Carlo and installed the IK 180s. He came back with a GRIN that went from ear to ear. The 180cc ports are a much better choice for anything with less than 240*@ .050, dual plane intakes, restrictive street exhaust, less than 4.10 gears, and less than 3,500 rpm stall speeds. His mildly cammed 350 with the 2,000 rpm converter pulled like a beast. No lag, just torque.

I am building a 396 smallblock out of a 350 that will have IK 180s on it.
