Ram Jet 305.....

I bought a nice 91 RS 305 with a 5 speed. Anyway the plan was to duplicate a LB9 G92 which I have all the parts. Then I got to thinking....I've also got another Ram-Jet intake and a set of Vortec heads. So mill the heads .040 change the camshaft......leaning todards a ZZ4. I've also got a set of new 2210 hooker headers. Build a exhaust etc. Do you think 300hp is possible? FWHP, or is it a waste of time?

Re: Ram Jet 305.....

That sounds like a pretty good idea. I think it will make 300 HP. It might be 2 something at the wheels. I'm not sure though. I was thinking about doing something like this myself, but maybe the exclusion of the Cam.

Put a 2,600 rpm stall in it with the ZZ4 cam and you will LOVE it.

I had a 228/234 @ .050" duration cam in a 305 TBI in a fullsize van with only 3.08 gears and a 2,800 rpm stall converter and it flat RAN! I ran in the 14s @ 92-93 mph in a 5,500 lbs G20 Van.

I just re-read his post as well. I read RS and didn't see the 5spd part. In that case the clutch can serve the same purpose as the converter on getting the car off the line. No problem.

Re: Ram Jet 305.....

sounds like a good combination with a zz4 camshaft and a decent set of vortec heads milled to up the compression something in the order of one hp per cubic inch seems like a reasonable expectation. That combined with a good clutch for the T5 and maybe some 3.73 in the rear axle

Re: Ram Jet 305.....

If I do this I hope to loose bottom end. Every TPI I had would smoke the tires and then become a dissapointment as I got passed around 70mph. I want to stick with 3.42's because I want some fuel mileage. I've been daily driving a 4x4 Suburban so the Idea of mid 20's sounds great. Anybody know anything about the bosch III injectors in the late 3.8L Buicks? I can't find how much they flow. I work at large late model salvage, and they seem like a logical choice for this application. If I really like it i might put a T56 in it then consider 4.10's.....
