California IROC clone

Well, being broke has got me to do too much thinking. After realizes all the work that I want to do to this car, I would put more money than I want to into this car.

By my calculation, If I were to buy an IROC and transfer my apperance mods and if need be, my WS6 sway bars, my cars value of what put into it would be at around $4442, and I would sell it asking $2800 after new paint. I want to ask that high, So I don't loose to much money.

Right now I have the Wrap around off the car and have sanded down and prepped the decklid. I have also shaved the side moldings. I put down rattle can paint (becuase of the weather) over the primer to keep rust out. I have also prepped one spot of rust and have three more to go.

The original color is black, and thats what the inner door and other stuff still is. I was planning on throughing a $300 MAACO Paint on it to help it sell.

Well I wasn't planning on re-installing the wraparound, simply becuase it would be a PITA to but back on. What do you think of the look of this?

Which is what the car would look similar to, except with the Z28 15's that the '88 SC got...

The only way the '88 "Shorty" wing is going back on, would be if MAACO would put it on for cheap, cuase last time I tried to put that back on, I broke the rear hatch (two weeks after It broke from the Heat)

Some more pics of the same car:

So what do you think ???

My car basicly looks like that, dark metallic blue, silver gfx, decklid and part of the pass rear guarter is black and whole driver side door is black, and I am working on the pass door (finish removing grim from side moldings, sand rust from undeanth and prime ant paint) So my car has down graded and looks like a project now

Naa.. you dont have to do it in the morning. Do it like I did, wait around till 5 or 6PM then start. When It gets dark get an extention cord and a house hold lamp. Tape it up to a tripod that is ment to hold a canvas. Keep working till 3AM in the morning then Wake up @ 6AM to go to work. Give yourself about 8 minutes to get to work when you know it takes 15 minutes. Now get some sleep.

I have seen pics of that car many times before, and the owner claims the car is 100% stock. I have to call on that one. Those rims are definitely refinished, and there is no way that stance is factory.

Where is the side molding? Was that deleted with the California option as well?

Actually where I got the pics from, http://www.iroc-zpostforum.com/ , here is what he said:

355ci with AFR 180cc street heads,

SuperRam intake,

Isky 217/225 cam with .517/.539" lift (1.6:1 rockers).

700R4 trans with a 3.70:1 geared Ford 9" rear.

The car is fully loaded and everything works. 44k original miles
I think the California IROCs didn't get side moldings... Don't quote me on that, though...

those wheels do look refinished to me

Check out this photoshop I just did...

I put my wheels on that car! Would you pay $2800 for a car that looks like this, but the catch was that it only had a good running v6 under the hood?

Here is another Photoshop of my car in black. I used a pic of when I bought it, becuase its the best view I got of the '88 "shorty" wing, which would most likely be what the car would be sold with (if it gets put back on)

(I know thats a crappy shot of me puttting my Grid Taillights on)

Car: See pic above
Engine: Too Small
Transmission: Broken
I have the same spoiler and had no problem getting it on and off when I got the decklid painted. It's just like 6 or 8 bolts and a two wire connector.

I guess I wasn't clear. The decklid on my car now is for a T/A wraparound spoiler. The problem with puttin the wraparound back on is that...

there is a metal base that sits in the rubber to bolt the spoiler to decklid. Mine is rusted together. Now this same "base" was also almost completly seperated from the rubber off of the spoiler. I just cut the rubber to take the spoiler off.

I have the enterie decklid/spoiler assembly with the '88 "shorty" spoiler and one with a standard three peice spoiler on it.

Well, my hatch exploded from the heat a few moths ago, and I put one from a 89 RS on it. Two weeks later I took the decklid off and put my '88 ddecklid back on. I had finished fine, slowly started to pull the hatch down to close it and it shattered in my hands. After putting a third hatch in two weeks on my car (with the t/a wraparound) I am kinda weary about attemting to put that '88 decklid back on.

If the whole car is going to be black & you're putting the grid taillights on it, then I think your idea sounds good. If the gfx would stay silver, then I say keep the spoiler on & try to keep it looking stock. I personally think the California IROC would look dumb if the gfx weren't the same color as the car.

So you are saying that you want to sell your car for 2800 with a maaco paint job. right? Should be able to if it runs good and the interior is ok.

Then you are going to buy a IROC right? That way you will have you money in a Iroc instead of the sc. Just trying to keep this straight.

check out my site at www.cardomain.com/id/bluegrassz

It tells the story about my car. You might be able to do something like I did if you can buy a parts car.

Good luck on what ever you decide.

Yup

I already have Grid Tail-lights, just that the pic I used was from when I bought the car, best angle I had of the '88 wing. If I do this, it will be probably without a spoiler or with the '88 wing.

I will do better photchops tonight. I have practiced more, and got a lot better

I would never pay that much for a v6 thirdgen, not even a mint '92 heritage/5-speed ---- wait I would for the '92 then quickly sell it for a T-56 for my Impala or maybe put money down on a '97 Camaro.
