20" wheels - All sport, no bling...

I saw a Trans Am with a set of BBS RS II wheels on some german motorsport site and thought they were killer. He had 20*9 front and 20*10 out back. He used 285/40YR-20s tire up front (not sure about the rear tires) Car looked awesome. Tire height is only 1.2" higher than stock, but throw on 1" lowering coils and you'd lose that ugly fender gap while still maintaining ample ground clearance. The wheels are 3 piece forged and weigh only 28 pounds apiece (I think). Anyway, at $650 per wheel and 350 per tire (for Pirellis) that comes out to be $4000 for rolling stock...A high price to pay, but bigger wheels are coming into style on the sport scene now. Heck, BMW M3s ship with an optional 19" wheel and tire package. Anyway...check the wheels out and lets discuss the pros and cons of 20" performance wheels (excluding any bent rim arguments - due to roadcourse/weekend cruise use only).

I agree with Mac, 20 is too big. So far from cars I've seen, 18's are the biggest that look good.

20's are just to big. I think mac has the right idea, 18's are the way to go. But for us poor guys, 16's will suit me just fine!!!

Cons
Your not driving a truck
ridiculously expensive
expensive tires
forget about lowering your car
Target for thieves
As mac suggested they are too big for camaros.......
rubbing issues
can't help performence....
they raise your car

Pros
Girls LOVE them......

20 is kind of ridiculous.... i mean if you really want tires that big just go out and buy a truck... ugly on one of our cars.

girls just love something shiny that looks big, the lift that 20's put on our cars is comical, not to mention the ride.......... leave it for the larger size vehicles.

i'm leaving now to go put 22's on my dodge shadow.

Those 19s look rediculous, 20s would look worse.

Ok, here is a link to some pics. When I used to hear about 20s I had the same thoughts as many of you share: "they look ugly", "they're too big", "buy 18s instead". Once I saw this car, however, I fell in love with the idea of these rims on my car. Words cannot do the same justice as pictures.

P.S. - Please do not presume that you can photoshop an accurate representation of what 20's would look like on a car - the joke is reeeal old and is beggining to become irritating (don't think I am alone here)

Christ, that is horrible looking. I hate when the fender cuts off the top of the wheel. 18s is the max I'd do, but I'd be plenty happy with 17s.

However, the rest of the car looks good. There, not a complete flame

Not bling bling at all fellas. Those are some nice rims and the drop makes it all go together. I couldn't spend that much on rolling stock, but he sure can and it looks nice.

9,0 liter V8 helt i aluminium, med tørrsumpsmurning. Effekt godt over 700 ordentlige hk pluss lystgass.

Those 20's don't look that out of place on the Trans Am because the wheels have a face mounted design, which makes the rim looks a bit smaller than it actually is compared to a deep dish 20" wheel which look like 21s. If I had the money, I would throw on some 19s at the largest.

i like the 20s! i wouldn't put more than 18's on my formula, but i do like the way that car looks. don't be affraid to admit it, they might be 20's, but not crack dealer "dubz" these are pure performance

I want the ones where you stop and keep spinning.

Oh man I saw a truck with those the other day. I bet those cause wrecks. People looking at them triping out and dont see the car infont of them before the hit it. Strange looking though. I'll see if I can find a web site wth them.

>does anyone know what they are called?
