here it is, the poll!

alright, i need some new wheels and i must get them quickly so i'm looking for some opinions.....good or bad is fine, but opinions all the same. understand that i choose these mainly because they aren't traditional. i want something that will stand out on the car and make it recognized without going to over the wall. let me know what you think.

just so you guys know the rodder 5 and the intro wheel are basically identical except for the fact that you don't have a good example of side by side. the only difference is the center section.

look closely and you'll see.

i've been leaning towards the rodder myself except for the fact that intro wheels are supposedly built a little better with a double bead weld and a few other little touches. they also polish everything where as boyd charges extra to have the backside drum polished as well as the rear face.

thanks for the replies....anyone else??

Im also with the rodders, they would look great on your car. Have you alredy sold your z06 wheels? Where did you sell the chrome 91-92 z28 wheels that you had a while back? I am also selling a set and am wondering where to start. Thanks

yeah the blaster is a nice wheel but not the direction i'm heading.

i really like the budnik's unfortunately i have yet to see a car with them. which is a good and bad thing!

as far as the z06's i sold them to a guy near me and i sold the 91z's to a guy in new york off this board.

just put adds up where people can see them and your good to go!

anyone have a picture of a car with any of these wheels other then the member i've already posted???

I'll have to say the Budnik also. If the Rodders aren't the same rims for all four corners, I'll take them as a first pick. I hate it when they have rims where two of the rims look like they are on the wrong side. What are they...directional? Like the early fourth generation Camaro rims. I still can't figure out how they got the guys at General Motors to agree to put those on the Camaros. I think even the mid eighties Corvettes had rims that looked backward on the passenger side. Thankfully they remedied that later in the decade.

these are really similar to the budniks, eagle alloys make a very similar wheel. They look okay, imo they look much better on trucks

the rodder 5's should look proper...in other words they won't look backwards on one side....that would be pretty bad.

as far as those eagles in the pic above...that's a pretty good example. the thing you have to remember with the budniks is that the lip or barrel won't be stepped like that so it will look alot different. the problem that can lie in that is an average 18 will then look like a 19 because of the reverse mount face.

the only reason i'm not going with the rodder 5 hand down is because of what looks like a stepped lip. i want a fully smooth rolled lip with a nice deep dish. a reverse mount face would be preferred so that i could have that 1"-1 1/2" of deep dish look but even a little would be better than a step dish.

look to the TTII wheel and you'll see what i'm talking about with the step and no step.

rodder 5's !!

If you were to go with these would you need spacers or could they be ordered to be a direct fit?

no i can't make the nationals because of work and the fact the car really isn't ready....besides the fact i have no rims there are many other things that need to be finished.

24's are a bit excessive but i might manage?

novass, when you go with a custom billet wheel like budnik, boyd, intro, etc. typically they build to fit so you should never really need spacers or adapters.....some eagles and occasionally a billet specialties; but very rarely.

JimmyG-91Z, any reason behind your choice. the rodder 5 and intro twisted blade 5 are the same wheel yet different manufacturer?

thanks for the replies guys!

I would say the rodder5 or the intro blade over the other two,
because I like how the directional pattern of the spokes make
the car look like it is moving even when still. However, the
stepped lip issue makes it difficult for me to say which of these
two will be best. I know that I have seen two similar wheels
before (same diameter, width, and tire size) and the one with
the flat smooth lip looked wider. It also made the
profile of the tire look shorter even though they were the same.
However, both of these seem to have a stepped lip.

Kandied - when I was on the boydcoddington site I noticed that
in the rodder5 pic there is a stepped lip, but the rodder 6 has
a flat lip. I wonder if the picture of the rodder5 just makes it
look like it has a stepped lip or if you have options.

The 4th set looks almost identical to the first one but costs quite a bit less.

I'd rather save some $$ and get a wheel that looks close enough!

that's a very good point guys! thanks for pointing that out!!

see the problem is half the time you have no idea what size the actual rim in question is. in theory from boyd when you go to a 18 an 8" wide or wider rim becomes what you see in that 6 lug pic.

problem is who is to say what's right or wrong and taking that chance without seeing it in person is a big deal!

however, i didn't see the picture of the 6 lug and now that i have i may just try the boyd's since it's almost a 400 dollar difference.

as far as the adapters...........yes i still have them for sale, it took me alot of time and reworking to make them fit the wheels perfect. once i finally got it to work i got rid of the wheels.

if anyone is interested in the adapters just email me. they cost me 475 but i'm definately not asking anywhere near that.

thanks again guys, please keep the comments coming!

i have been waiting to see posted pics of the hod rods from a member but have yet to see them.

i like the rodder 5 overall, however the quality of the rim and polish job i am a bit concerned.

i know that the intro wheels will hold up which is why i don't mind spending another $200. however, if i can save a little money that wouldn't be too bad either as i think the rodder 5 looks outstanding on the car i posted.

as far as superfest, pat i will be there......as to what rims will be on my car is all up in the air. as of now no billet company can build me a wheel by july3. so i will not have "my" wheels on it. i hope to possibly rent my old z06 wheels back for the weekend or check out one of the many nice "rent-a-wheel" shops arond detroit.

may have to be stuck with 20's for the weekend.....

Well like you said the intros are better built, and if your spending this amount of money on rims, I'd want to best quailty I could get, and there are little differences between the intro's and the rodder's and I those differences make be think the intros look better.

I actually change my vote, the intro's would be my first choice for your car, and the budniks the second choice
