just polished
i just got finished polishing my slp runners and they look great. although it took for ever. i went up to 600 grit sandpaper and used the buffing compounds but i still have those very fine hair line scratches. the ones you can see when you tilt it a certain way and the ligh reflects off it. i cant seem to make them go away. does anyone know what i could use/do to make them go away?

Go up to 2000 grit...well thats what I do anyway.
I'm sure you could use some harder wheels with the compounds, then work your way up to the soft wheels with the compounds. That should get rid of your fine scratches.

i agree 100% with TunedPort 335. 2000 grit sand paper will take those fine scatches out .... use mothers polish but do it by hand... then use a regular paper towel to take the mothers off... helps remove the cloudyness.... good luck... got pictures?

NOoooo don't use clearcoat. No matter what kind it will eventually turn yellow and look like crap.
If anything, use this stuff called Zoop seal. It's expensive but alot of hot rodders swear by it.
I just polish everything once every few weeks or so. Still looks great.

http://www.zoops.com/zoopseal.asp it actually cost 130.00, but well worth it.
I reccomend this to all of my coustomers. Its a great product that will seal the part from the elements of wear and it will keep the shine for a long time.
