I always did like the widebody kits on 3rdgens. One day Im going to buy one. The mirrors do suck though on that car.

Looks like you can make a drag car out of it.
Put the stock front fenders back on with skinnies. Keep the rear of the car wide so you don't have to tub it, throw in a dana 60 rear in with 4:56 gears , and drop in a Oldsmoble DRCE engine. Presto!

Yep Lose the mirriors, put the stock ones back on. Then lose the tires and rims and replace them with some nice 17x11 in the rear
and 17x 9.5 in the front. Lose the rear wing and replace that with a wrap around one off of a formula firebird.

I like it, I think it would look better with an 87-89 nose though...as for the mirrors they definitely have to go, but weren't those stock in some of the European thirdgens?

To all of you who were asking if this is an available body kit for purchase, YES, yes it is! You can get it from ThunderRacing (and a few other places). Click ---=HERE=--- for the page containing it. I have actually seen that body kit here in the US. I was in Florida and I noticed a very odd-looking ThirdGen and investigated. Didn't know what I had seen until I saw that body kit online. So yes, widest in your area, but I have seen it here in the states...

That's definitely unique... I don't think I've ever seen a thirdgen fbody quite like that.
I do believe those mirrors are factory. They are required in Europe (for what purpose I don't really know).
Definitely looks like it should have a meatier engine under the hood though.

Knock out the windows and replace it with expanded steel mesh, clear out the interior and put in a couple of racing seats... M60 mounted in place of the rear hatch... I'm seeing a new Mel Gibson movie...

ok.. that camaro looks great, espically w/ the hood louvers right next to the cowl... very sexy i think, and then the louvers right behind the front wheel.. but the bird.... it's too drawn out.. tooo bluky, makes it look short and midgety.. don't get me wrong, i love midgets, but not midget cars... :-/. But.. a few things, and the bird could look good, yes.

That Marlboro camaro looks amazing, and would look even better
with a 5" iroc spoiler instead of that wing.

Anyone know the history behind the Marlboro Camaro? What size wheels are those? The camaro looks good except for the ***** wing, and the firebird, well, could look a bit better w/ different mirrors and a better paint scheme.

i agree that it would look better with an older version of the nose. Also, i'm curious about where they relocated the gas filler to. Blacked out taillights and a more aggressive hood might help the look also.

Uhm....the kit on that Firebird and the kit on those Camaros are NOT the same kits.
BTW, this summer when on my 1000 mile roadtrip in the IROC, I saw that Marlboro Camaro being trailered. I later on saw it racing in a Legal Streetracing event during an american car weekend. It is not half bad, but I don't care for the paint scheme. There was a second gen here in Norway too with that scheme some years back.
As for the details on it, I can check - it has been featured in some magazines here earlier this year. In fact, I think I posted about it, so do a search on my username and you should be able to find it...
Oh, and about that Firebird - it is definitely unique, but personally Im not too crazy about it. A different paint job may have helped, but Im not sure...
As for the mirrors, Zepher has the right idea. The folding mirrors is/was a requirement here in Europe. After visiting Italy a couple of weeks ago I see the point. The streets were very narrow and people drove like they had stolen both the car/scooter and the gas! All cars parked along the streets had their mirrors folded in - and those who didn't had the mirrors broken off and hanging by the wires LOL!

Its weird how those fender flares are at an angle like that instead of more level like with the grey Z28. I have yet to see a really nice looking Wide Body kit that doesn't look a bit odd.

About the mirrors, they are actually stock. Theyre export mirrors, which went to europe (not sure which countries) :P When thirdgens were being built, some countries already required cars to have 'fold-back' mirrors, like all new cars do today. So, GM threw those pieces of crap on there to meet safety standards.

i'm likeing the sidepipes on the firebird. theres a camaro with the wide body kit on it at a junkyard about 10 min from my house. it doesnt look that bad either. the fenders are fiberglass so it probably saves alot of weight. i kinda like it but i dont think i would do it to my car.
