I feel sick. I saw this at the cruise night tonight.....
Luckily it had canadian plates so its not someone in the US that owns the car, but still...it was driving in Massachusetts. I dont know WHAT posessed this person to do this, but it made me want to vomit with rage. Why would someone do such a thing?!
Marbles all over the car.....mirror where the hood louvers should have been......I'm gonna say that the whole car was completly hand painted.......doubt that automotive paint was used, too.....
LOOK AT IT!!!!!

omg ive seen that car in person as well, and no it is not driven by a libral arts college major kind of girl, it is driven by a guy, and the guy isnt wierd looking or anything, or a nerd, he looked like a regular guy and in pretty good shape if i remmeber correctly, the guy drives aroudn my town, he goes to car shows behind the gas station where i work, and hes been in the gas station too, bought some gatorade i think, i usually like to bother people about thier cars, especially the camaros, ask them what year it is or how they like em and how they run, but i didnt know what to say to the guy about his car with out insulting him, and im pretty sure that if i slap a customer id get fired, and the assistant manager was in the store when he came in, he jokingly said i should do my car up like that, some lady was talking to him outside and he was smiling and proudly showing off that atrocity of a third gen, i was gonna take some pics, and post them up in this place, but guess i dont have too anymore

I think you guys are all coming from the wrong direction. Now don't get me wrong, I feel bad for the car, and maybe someday it'll get a new lease on life, but I don't think you and I were what this guy was thinking about.
It's not supposed to be a show car in the normal sense, more like a piece of art.
....I think it's kinda neat, just wish it was a mustang instead.

Man... It would be nice to buy that car, strip it of that guck. Throw in a 4th gen interior.
Ya know, just rehabilitate it, and then release it into the wild.

you know, as odd and rediculous as that looks... most of us here would be too lazy to go to that extent to mod our cars... I also feel that it is kind of neat... it attracts attention to third gens. better than seeing a rusted out paint faded one right?

wow, you guys are sure quick to slam something because it is not normal. That obviously wasn't an easy thing to create, and for that I give the person credit. It's different, and unique, it's art. Jesus guys, don't be so critical and close minded.

There is a difference between actually being close-minded and not acknowledging the amount of work that someone has put into their car, and holding back honesty for fear of being called “closed-minded”.
If it was for charity, that's all well and good... yet he has been driving it for 2 years.
This car is a joke, an honest to goodness embarrassment.

Well that has got to be the most colorful thirdgen I've ever seen. One thing I do find amusing is.. So many people here say .. "It's your car, make it your own".. so when someone does something rather extreme. They get made fun of, or put down. Personally I wouldn't do that to mine.. But they obviously like it.. Guys here think I'm crazy for making mine more of the factory look the way I would like it.. Because it's "Factory".. but how many do you know in your area would do that .. ditch the good aftermarket stereo and bass system. for a older factory cd player. But what ever.. Anyways.. back to the car on topic.. who ever did that did go through a lot of work.. at least you wouldn't quite tell if the dash cracked.. and if it did just fill it in some more... And no one would steal that one.. no worries then...
You didn't happen to get a closer photo of what those two plates say on the center console did you??

here....
the red one says
"13th annual (......)
Show and Shine
Car Show 2001
(........)"
and the blue one says
"(........)
Show and Shine
(...) Annual car show
(...........)"
so obviously this guy is winning shows somewhere........but i have no clue why, lol
I guess if it said something like "This car was built in memory of..." or "This car was built to raise funds for the cancer insitute" or something like that, it would be understandable.....but any other reason is unacceptable.

Apparently there is a niche of people that like this sort of thing. At the Hoboken (NJ) Arts and Music Festival, there is another car modified in a similar style that's always there. As for the picture above, only thing I'm waiting for is a nice hot day to collapse that hatch. Somehow, I doubt those marbles are reducing weight.

That's hilarious, I love it! What's even more amusing are the ones so traumatized by this piece they're trying to rationalize it in anyway possible.
Personally, I love the car. It's incredibly unique and a fine, if a bit bizarre, work of art. I'm sure he gets disparaging comments akin to what's been said here all the time, so kudos for him for expressing himself wholly and not giving a damn what the masses think.

I usually agree with you about self expression, but come on. There has to be a line somewhere.

See, the NKOTB car proves my point. Trying to make a car look cool and failing is what I don't like. Case and point, that NKOTB car. The crazy marble car wasn't intended to be "cool" or to be the next hot rodding trend, simply a fun, wacked out idea brought to life.
I respect that.
If your favorite pro football player drops an easy pass, you get pissed, right? Why? Because you "EXPECT" him to catch it. You don't make fun of pop-warner kids who mess-up. That's because you don't expect them to be great.
No one "expects" the marble car to be great. Simply it is what it is.
I dig it.

man i wonder how long it took to do that work, i give him credit on the art work some looks hard to do .... but the marbles... how you you like to be following that when a marble comes unglued bounces down the road and trashes your car. that is plain dumb.
its a good thing he is from canada that car would never pass safety test in mass.

I never said that as a fact I was saying that as more fun than anything. True there are lots of 3rd Gens in canada. but here in the east coast. Its very rare. I've only seen a few that are actually drivable.
although now that I read my post again.. it did sound kinda uncool.

Too bad neither of those pieces of art were done by anyone that knows how to draw for ****.
They both look filthy too.
