18's or 19's?

Getting ready to get a new set of wheels. I like the TTII's, but more and more people have them...and I need to upgrade..and go bigger. So, that leaves me with 18's 19's....there is a new custom wheels shop not to far from where I live. They can get just about any wheel, but I'm not really sure what type to get. They said they can get EVO's..up to size 20" for $1700. Any suggestions would be appreciated...and a photoshop would be nice. Wanting a style of wheel similar to Kandieds or Camaroguy18's....so that will give you guys an idea of what direction I'm heading for.

Few picturess of my current 17 inch TTII's

Since your car is a show car, id suggest 19's. Reason being is you can get a nice dished wheel and it will look just right in 19". I am real fond of intro wheels. this wheel here is the intro classic.

Boze Stinger, Intro V-Rod, Boyd's Hot Rods, and now American Racing Wheels GT5 are all very very similar (pretty much eactly the same) ...but they get my vote, in 19's.

get some dubs on there , you dont drive the car much anyway , so go with the 20'z. But then your gonna need some bugger brakes to fill up the wheel .

Thanks for the input guys. 19's are sounding pretty good. I like my TTII's....but they have more of that "classic" look to them...and I'm trying to get out of that stage. I'd like to get about $1600 out of my TTII's with the tires. They have been ordered so they CAN be rotated. I'll post them up forsale when I make my final decision.

I'm looking into the Intro V-Rod 5's...the prices really aren't to bad. If I go with a 19X8...what size tires would you guys recommend? Keep in mind that the car has been lowered about 2 inches...

the right profile size tire. 245/35/19 if you want a straight sidewall. 235/35/19 if you want it stretched and slightly shorter. lowering isn't a problem so much with the tires until you get over 26.5" or if your offset is off.

this is how a 245/35/19 on a 19x8 with what a typical 4.5" backspacing is. my wheels have a 4.75" b.s though to adapt for the 1/4" the baer brakes move the hub out. the rears are a 285/35/19 on a 19x10 with a 6.25" backspace using factory disc rear offset of +16mm. definately a tall tire, more then i'd like but the only other option with bfg was a 275/35/19 or 275/30/19, both of which will be shorter then the front or stretched. this is of course with the bfg kdw nt's which have some of the lowest 19" tire selections available, i liked the tread pattern the most out of any of them though. when i buy tires next i will try to pick up the original michelin pilots or settle for the ps2's if i have too. the michelins are more expensive and don't look as nice but they ride nicer and have more tire fitment selection. i should really be running a 285/30/19, that would be ideal so i try to burn these off every chance i get to replace them.

good luck.

this gives you the rear rim placement, sitting the rear 19x10 in the factory rim position looks great in person but if you look close enough you can see how the taller 285/35/19 is just enough that it can rub at times on the quarter requiring either the proper tire which would be a 285/30/19 or rolling the lip on the quarters. something to think about when choosing your backspace. the one advantage to this is the extra sidewall really makes the car ride nicer. while this is only a good 3% larger then my 285/35/18's it really makes a difference when hitting bumps.

now the 245/35/19 doesn't seem any different in ride over the 245/40/18.

I know you're planning on a 5-spoke design, but I think putting a set like CrazyHawaiian's on your ride would look awesome in a 19-20" size

I thought that was a nice wheel too until I saw the pricing. They're wanting up to 5k for a set without tires on ebay. Absolute outrage for a 1-piece.

I just recieved my set of intros..........18" paid 1100 shipped.....

I dont like the fact they are a steped lip or the fact that the V's are slightly curved vs. boyds which is a straight V.......these are just minor differences and could not justifiy paying 3X as much for such subtile differences............

Do a search for some of my posts and you can see what the Intro V-Rod looks like... I have a set on my 57' Chevy , but put them on the resr of my Camaro just for kicks...

figuring im growing into liking bigger then 18" wheels...recent that flame black camaro with 20s looked good and of course kandies camaro with the 19s...id say go 19s

Your car is a show car anyway so its perfect for you.

Id like to see you go 1 of kind but with a 5 spoke design / deep dish wheel.

Your car would look amazing and i agree ur TT2s are outdated for how many modifications youve done.

Good luck tell us what you decide!

Actually, you can get a whole set of 19X8 V-Rods for $2595 directly from Intro: http://introwheels.com/pages/w_exposed/v-rod5.shtml

TopleZZ candy, did you go with the "Rodders"? Those don't really look like the V-Rods

Interesting, I called them and they gave me the contact info for their only retailer in Canada. After speaking briefly to them on the phone it was much cheaper for me to buy them in the US for their Canadian retailer wanted $4000 per rim

you could have ordered them reverse mount so the step was on the inside with a smooth dish and your offset determines what happens to the spokes on certain wheel designs.

that's insane for any rim. sounds like they didn't know what they were doing, i'd call intro and yell at them for that one. no reason a set of intro wheels shouldn't run you 2-2500 for 18 or 19"

$1,100 for a set of 18" intros is dirt, dirt cheap and unbelievable in one of their 2 piece optioned wheels.

don't quote me on this, but I'm pretty sure the Intro guy said "Discount Tire" can/has their stuff. I'd try give them a call.. I know they're plentiful on the west coast.

I don't think the design of the spokes on the rodder will flow well with the car at all. I like the design of the v-rod much more.

It does look good from that perspective, not to sure what it would look like from an angle though. It's your car, do what you want.

I got these rims for 1100 shipped for a set of 4..........18x8 and 18x9.5 I ordered them from a place in orem utah ........coys wheel was the name of the shop...........This was the only style they had........so no special orders like revers mounted lip of different sizes........They could do it but NOT for 1100 shipped.........

actually now that I think of it the 18x9.5 had to be shipped from intro since coys was out of stock.......

And for all those that dont like the FLOW .......they look so very similiar the the wheels that graboid has on his car that everyone got wood over.......

I like them and Im sure the will look better than the 15 inch 4 star ARE's that are on ther now.......

OHH and here is a pick of graboids with boyds V-rods

Not saying they don't look good. They look great. But in my opinion there are better designed wheels out there.

actually now that I think of it the 18x9.5 had to be shipped from intro since coys was out of stock.......

Coy is actually selling a set of 18's on ebay right now for $1050 plus $90 to ship. I'm pretty clueless about backspacing and all that....so I have no clue. I think the Rodders look pretty damn good....but would like to see a set mounted on a 3rd gen..

Now it's coming down what to actually get. Here is a nice set. I don't like the fact that they are chrome though....

I say you dont go with 18's or 19's and do 20's. That is is you truly want to be satisfied and make it look right.

Car: too many ...
I say it depends on why you want the bigger wheels and how you will be using them. I went with 18's party for the look, but mostly because I wanted the smaller sidewall tires (40 and under) for better turning response and I wanted to maintain the OEM wheel+tire height, or as close as possible. I would have loved to go with 19's for an even more extreme look but then the sidewalls were getting too small for a car that see's alot of street driving so I didnt go that route. If you dont care about OEM spec, and you dont drive the car every day, you have alot more options than I did. I think at that point it would come down to what you want and how much you can spend.

This is definently one of those appearance issues that can Make a Break a car appearance. Thanks for all the input and opinions.

I really like the idea of 19's...but the more and more I look at 18's...I actually think the 18's would go better with the car. Now, just choosing a set and selling my current wheels are the problem. I've emailed a few companies...and I'm waiting on a few replys.

for what my car is for the 19's work, if i drove the car more honestly 18's push the limit. not so much size or anything else but 18's are just more reasonable. they won't get you attention but they can fit the car nicely, cost much less then 19's and although it's slight the performance is better with the less weight and slightly taller sidewall.

however, for you and the fact you don't drive your car much the 19's would look great!
