Has anyone looked at or get Chevy High Performance Mag. in the mail? Its the April issure. I can't believe they put that Cavalier in there! I can see them MAYBE putting a front wheel drive car in there but that thing is pure rice. If it was just stock looking but decked out with performance parts I could see them doing it. Put with that paint job, spoiler, etc. it is pure rice. What do you guys think?

ITS A HIGH PERFORMANCE MAG. and if you say that isnt HP then you are dumb. no i wouldnt do that to a cavalier. but what did people say back when people decked out novas, camaros, chevelles, when the old 57 chevys were out of the pic. nothing.. so why should we knock them now. its a pure bowtie. ok its not rearwheel drive but i guarantee it will beat a V6 camaro. and if you put that much money in a car. it will always look good in your mind. and if it wasnt a good idea it wouldnt be in CHP. i liked it except for the yellow interior. but hey at least it is not japanese. stay with domestic power and it is still a good thing. and remember gas is going to near 3.00/gal in the next year so. be ready.

I didn't say it wasn't High performance. I'm my personal opinion like I said it would be alright it it just looked stock. It would be really cool if they didn't do up the paint job so much and make the whole interior yellow. Hot rodding is about modifying what you have whether its a v6 or a v8. I think its really cool what he did performance wise, I just would have done the interior and exterior a little differently.

hEY BE NICE . . . he has a really fast car . . . all those stickers and that big wing help add to his traction . . . (even though it actually reduces it cause its front wheel drive) . . . and those lights make him fast too . . . and dont forget the 300 + pounds of speakers he has . . . and the drum brakes in the back really help slow it down too!!! WHY WASTE THE MONEY ? ? ?

i agree....the guy who built it must have been into rice rockets and just liked the cavalier body style better than say a civic. maybe he saw potential...or maybe he already had the car and came across part for it and BAM all of a sudden he has a RR. the fact of the matter is, 350 guys rag on 305 guys, 305 guys rag on 6cyl guys, why not camaro guys in general rag on 4 cyl. btw, rice rockets are Japanese cars not chinese. If you show an 8 year old a civic all riced out and show him a Camaro (or nova or any american car) let him listen to them. and then show him this cavalier, he will say its a rice rocket. its as simple as that. its not the name its the style! errr lack of.

If its got a fart tube and 9 foot wings...its rice.

i will agree with the most of you, on how most cavies look like total monkey doodoo. But i have seen 2 cav's on the net so far, that are actually well thought out and nice. Check out Scauffiels web page for a link to a Twin Turbo Z24. Some guy put a 89 Grand Prix turbo 3.1 in a 91 Z24 and put twin turbines on it. It has around 400hp and should run in the 10's. That guy raced it on 3 cylinders and got a low 14 et.
Another nice cavalier i saw was around a 90ish, and was converted to RWD and the guy dropped an hi-po LT1 in it. But still, adding a huge wing, 18x5" rims, and 15 series rubber, is very crappy looking.
