Sorry 'Maro gents... no cowl induction here. Could I please see some power bulge hods? Formy types? Fuctional HO Hoods?

I'm considering same for my car and need inspiration.

Please?

Bull, my friend. Perfect picture, perfect timing.

I was showing my wife the picture of the power bulge on the IROC Gallery (linked in the stickies above) and she was turned off by the pictures there. They mostly were on 'non-banshee' cars and they had gold, blue, or red decals on them.

You pic is a simple, yet elegant, power bulge hood for the 3rd Gen Pontiac F-body. No frills, matching paint, banshee nose.

She's cool with it now.

(Gawd love a Gearogia gal).

Thanks!

Most of these are focussing on something else but you can see the powerbulge in it.

The double power bulge hood was called the IMSA hood and looks pretty good.
That is the one I wanted but you can't find one for sale easily.

Well, it looks like I found one.

Trying to figure out how to fill the little ding on the left side of the bulge and getting it to the paint shop will be the challenge now...

I'm stoked.

power bulge rocks!!!!!

ram air is pretty cool to except for the fitment issues. Now I am sure that there is someone who just bolted it on and painted it but what percentage is that 1-5 %

You do not want a whole lot of bondo on a metal hood because of the hot and cold repedativness of the engine. the bondo moves around like butter on a hot skillet. eventually it starts to crack up

I would install it on your car 1st to see if everything lines up ok and then do the paint work and fix the ding.My buddys gone through two power bulge hoods he bought at the j/y and they both looked great. But when he put them on they didnt line up because they had dents you couldnt notice around where the hinges connect.

I'm not worried about that so much as I am about the dent on the bulge. If not filled with bondo, how do you repair this?

Another thing... how important is the insulation on the back side? The one on this example is pretty ragged out.

How do you get the picture to show up in the thread instead of just a link? I knew how to do it in the old forum.

Gotta host it on some web space and then reference the URL in the message body (it's the icon with the mountain in it - or whatever it is).

So about the underhood insulation... how important is that?

I think a good experienced body shop with the right tools sould be able to pull out the ding to the point where minimal bondo would have to be used.On my flat hood on my blue car I removed the insulation about a 1 and a half ago.The paint on my hood looks good still. But I know classic industries sells new hood insulation for bulge hoods .Good luck with the project and nice score on the hood.

Awesome info. Thanks.

Is it safe to assume that this replacement would be worded as follows?

F261 HOOD INSULATION FORMULA REPRODUCTION

Classic Industries will likely have an order from me soon as this particular part is fairly inexpensive. It mentions that it will help dissipate the heat from the engine and extend the life of the paint.
