Like this for $700. Bone stock with 139k miles. Digital Dash. Got it from the original owner, all paperwork, receipts, build sheet, factory service manual and owners manual. Tons of stuff.

To this. $2000 or so later. All new fuel delivery and upgraded injectors and it runs just as good as it did back in 87, if not better. Tons of other parts replaced as well. It's a solid runner, tons of power, good on gas actually and extremely reliable.

Re: How much You paid and A picture of your Car...

1991 Z28 , 350 TPI , 3.23 posi rear , $1500 . Has new shocks all the way around ( even hood & trunk), tires only have a few thousand on them, body is straight, runs good, new wheel/axle bearings too, new window motors, interior needs some cleaning. Although its not pretty to look at , all the cars in my price range needed paint anyways, so why not get one thats half way there. The only bit of rust on the car is some surface rust on the inner wheel wells, the floors and even under the doors are clean.

If T-Tops leak, (which they commonly do) all the water dripping from the top into the floorboard can cause the floorboards to go.

If someone has let a leaky t-top car sit in the elements for a while, chances are the floorboards will be rusted.

Re: How much You paid and A picture of your Car...

I traded for this 87 irocZ so i have about 1500.00 into body.. i just put a 350 into it (not fully hooked up yet ) as when i got didnt have a motor.. i have 1600 into motor as it was a crate motor .. ( took out of my truck only has 37k on it ) when done it be about 3800 or as i hope it will either sale like it is or i can trade it off.. it has t tops and is rust free and here in michigan thats very rare
I had planed to sell this as some dumb but cut alot of wires when they removed the old motor i didnt notic till i started to re wire new motor.. but now have decided to keep as i just bout a 96 4th gereration convert. its has the 3.8 runs great i just need to put about a grand in to the body needs rockers and a driver door mirror.. i will try to add a pic or two of the 96..
I am in the middle of a deal for an 81 tear drop witch will give me the 2nd generation.. and gives me 3 of the 5.. if goes thru i will be looking to buy a generation 1

That sure looks like a normal Z28 with an IROC hood, make sure the numbers match.

EDIT: I found out no IROC's came two-tone. That is more than likely just a Z28.

Although it may be just a lowly-optioned IROC.
I was thinking the same thing...Thought all the IROC-Z's had matching color ground effects, and only the Z28's had the dual color schemes? Considering that looks like a factory paint and decal set, my vote is Z28.

All thirdgen convertibles I have seen have all been an rs, z28, or an iroc. I'm guessing since it has "camaro" badges, it must be the base model. 305 tbi kinda backs that up. Pretty rare for all I know.

Re: How much You paid and A picture of your Car...

I paid a thousand dollars for my 83 Trans Am. She was already wearing a GTA front end, and had a fallin apart and decayed wrap around spoiler. She definitely had some hiccups when I bought her, but getting ready to throw a 3.23 posi in the rear and overall I'm very happy with what I got. Looks like I'll have to come back on my computer to post a picture.

Just for fun, there's a showroom condition IROC in Edmonton Alberta on autotrader.ca. Have a look see if you are intrested in a basically brand new IROC.

Not sure if the link will work. but a search will bring it up.

Re: How much You paid and A picture of your Car...

I got one picture attached this time. I should state that this car did not run when I bought it. I was told it sat for 3 years. Had it towed into the shop I was working at, at the time. I was in love the first time we met. The better half, however, had yet to be convinced. New starter, battery, oil change, plugs, wires, antifreeze, brake fluid. Turned the engine over by hand several times, removed the fuse controlling the aftermarket alarm, and she started right up. Then I realized I didn't have brakes. Took the master cylinder off to discover it was frozen. With the help of a vice, a hammer, and an old twelve inch half inch extension it was as good as new. All that was over a year ago, and she is still roaring down the road.

Edit: I wanted to add a little bit here. The man I bought it from was the Original owner of both the 83 Trans Am I got and the 88 GTA donor car that contributed a lot to my car. Despite being a Master Mechanic for sears this car was in deplorable shape. And he only sold it because he needed to put a Trans in his Wife's Dodge Stealth. Guess I was just brought up by old school folks because the more I looked, the more things this old man screwed up. An endless amount of little things. Including finding out he had just tossed the emissions equipment back under the hood, despite the car not having a cat. All in all, being someone who loves working on cars, especially GMs, I really didn't and still don't mind finding those little things. She is more or less stock under the hood. An intake, a set of Crane roller rockers, smog pump tossed, ac carefully removed for now as it didn't work. And I just spent a couple hundred last week for all new wheel bearings, rotors, pads, and calipers. The next step is to remove the 3.08 open diff, and replace it with the 3.23 limited slip ten bolt in my basement. About to order the Spohn torsion bars and pahard bar from Hawks in the next few weeks. In the immortal words of one of my biggest heroes "One piece at a time."

I guess the point to adding all that is to look anything you buy over very well. Unless your looking forward to working on it. In the end I probably paid too much, but you can't put a price on the serenity I get from working on my favorite car. Ha ha.

Thank you Davidgou, you have no idea how good it feels to hear something like that. I'm working as a Valet right now with a college kids, and all I ever hear is about how sh*tty GM is, how my car is ugly and slow, etc. I know they just don't know any better, but after a while it can get under your skin and at that point admires make you remember why you love a car so much. Ha ha. Thank you again.

Re: How much You paid and A picture of your Car...

Trust me man, I understand. I've owned mine for 10 years now and it didn't always look like the poc (piece of crap) it does now. You can look at my pics shown in my signature. I work at a school and to have high schoolers tell you crap about it too gets me, even my own son has talked trash in the past. But now that I got her on the road again, after 4 years, I'm really motivated to fix her all the way. Looking through these pages in this forum is what keeps me going one day at a time. I love these folks around here, this is the best site (and I'm also subscribed elsewhere) but tgo is the best IMHO. Keep it up man, don't listen to the trash talk, they're just envyous 'cause they don't have such an icon for a car and you do!!! The important thing is YOU love your car and that's it.

BTW, where are you located?

Re: How much You paid and A picture of your Car...

I'm located right outside Philidelphia, PA. I got lucky in that my car is a Pennsylvania native so it never had a front liscence plate. She needs a lot of touches here and there, but I do love my car, and I love working on my car. Ha ha. Actually just got a set of 6x9s for the back. They've been missing since I bought the car. It's weird to finally be able to hear my radio at least a little above my exhaust. Ha ha ha.
