Body assembly = Done

Hey guys, I just finished putting back the body of my Camaro together. Everything is perfetcly alligned, and man... what a job. Took about 30 hours to line all the pieces to perfection.

Next on the to-do list is steering linkage, and suspension install. If you want more info/pics, just check out my cardomain. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2432471

Thats great. I hope to do a build like that someday when I get older. At least have body as solid as that. Hopefully I will have my setup till I get old enough to afford something like that. Then tranfer it all to a new body.

I hope you check out my CD site. I posted a comment on yours.

Keep us posted!

The color is GM Artic White 92RS. It has been wetsanded and polished, the car is incredibly smooth on touch.

nice work. Got a few questions. first off, whats the details with the fuel filler? what did you do to get to the finished look. wil it work through the glove box door? do you have any pics of the rear bumper? this is something that I am going to start on either with my car or another shell maybe next year. Just start from scratch and do it right. Are you adding any dynomat or anything to the interior before you install the carpet? that would be a good idea. It made a huge difference in my car. Keep a cost tally on this and let me know whatto expect. I do all my own work except paint and bodywork so it shouldnt be too bad on my wallet

I just visited your car domain site and wow, that is going to look very sharp. Not sure that I've seen anyone on the boards go to this extreme before. Can't wait to see it when it's done

BTW, did you ever get that "wiper delete" cover made? I've been wanting to do that myself....

Bottledzr28: The Fuel filling door has been shaved, I welded a plate from the inside of the fender (to avoid burnt rubber and misc. crap thats on the road to pile there). Then another plate was welded to the exterior, and the usual body prep was done after.

The filler is now inside, right under the glove box thing... or whatever its called, lol. (I cut the filler from the gas tank and welded it to the inner wheel well) Im gonna get a pipe bent when I get my new tank to reconnect it all, maybe a piece of rubber hose, not sure yet.

Im gonna take a pic of the rear bumper tonight, and post it tomorrow. The line where it was written (Tune port inj. and IROC-Z) was shaved too. It makes one hell of a nice ***.

Sound Deadening material will be added before anything goes back into the car. Not sure which brand to use yet, I heard all the usual stuff... I know Dynamat is the best, but its very expensive, I just dont know if I want to spend 1k+ on that type of stuff. (Need about 100sqf for the complete car) I still need to do research.

I do all the work myself too, exept bodywork and paint, I just leave that to the pros. I did the complete teardown of my car, sent it to a shop in Montreal to have it soda blasted. They did one hell of a job. Everything was down to bare metal. Then it was Epoxy primed with Macropoxy 646. (That was about 1k for blast and primer) I went to get it back, and sent it to my bodyshop, where it sat there for about 2 months. Rotisserie, shaving everything, changing driver side floor pan, primer, paint, sanding, sanding.. sanding, clear, sanding, sanding. lol you get the idea. That process was 7K. So in body alone, I have over 8K invested, but its all worth it. The car is more then perfect and 20x better then when it rolled from the assembly line.

I just take it one step at the time. Next step it to order the Air ride stuff, send my steering box for rebuild, complete suspension and get done with all the steering components.

Also ordered 06 Z06 brakes for the front. Im rprolly order rear soon tho. Need them to see what bracket is needed for them to fit.

Sickness91Z28: Thanks a ton for your support man, always loved your ride and this means a lot coming from you . The wiper delete cover has been on hold for a month now. My friend who was gonna make the mold fell sick and Im still waiting for him to get better, and start that little project. By the way, Hes gonna give me the mold when hes done with it and the piece is created. I might have him build a couple of cover if the interest is there. Stay tuned

Spike your bumper looks great!!! I have never liked the indentation, and had told myself next time I paint I would see what could be done with it - NOW I know... FILL IT IN!

Cant wait to see that a little further along.

Spike,I used this sound deadning stuff called raamaudio. heres the site: http://www.raamaudio.com/

Please let us know the details of the air ride install. this is on my list for next year. Im sure its pretty straight foward though. My biggest concern with itis finding a location for the tank. maybe a custom made one hidden somewhere will work for me. We'll see. Anyway keep up the good work and keep us updated if not here then on your site. I might keep bugging you since I am doing all this pretty soon as well. Just as soon as I find a spare shell to use to get it started so I dont have to tear my car apart so fast

BottledZr28, Thanks a ton for the info about Raamaudio! Im gonna go do some reading now. As far as the air ride goes, I was planning on hiding the tank, solenoids and hoses in the spare tire area. Think Im gonna order the bags next week, and the Compressor, tank, valves, computer another day. Im def. gonna keep you all posted on this. Since I found this website, Im always here anyways

BADNBLK:
Thanks for the comment dude! Im gonna post more pics when I can move it foward out of the garage. btw I totally love your paint scheme.

I dont remember exactly how much I bought of them. I think I may have did it through ebay and then either called there or emailed them to get the exact amount I needed. I know they where great with me during the transaction. I think he cut up a good roll just so I could get what I needed and nothing extra. that way there I wouldnt waste my money on a completely new roll. call them or email them and tell them what you have what you want to cover and they will work with you. I did my entire car top to bottom front to back. I didnt miss one spot. my doors are a lot heavier now and I had to re adjust the passenger one due to the weight but it sounds so much better when it shuts now. I doubled it up on the doors with some left over stuff. the stuff went on real easy too. just peel and stick. you wont have any issues since your panels are clean. I washed all mine first with warm water and degresser and then warm water and soap, and then warm water. the stuff sticks awsome. I think I did mine in the winter or on a cold day so I helped it out a little bit by using a blow dryer to get the stuff to work into the seams a little. Overall, I am very happy with the results.

I'd take a lot of measurments just to make sure. But then, it looks like you know what you're doing.

And those headlights don't look stock...

Heavychevy: Wheels are Bonspeed's Intense5. 18x8 front and 18x10 rear. They are the rims pictured in the pics on my cardomain. Engine will probably be an LSx base engine.
