Im looking into doing another LS1 swap in a '91 Z28, the car has decent paint, but its not perfect. So it will require a repaint
The paint will be done properly, doors will come off, hatch, bumpers, fenders etc etc. Everything will be done right!
Ive Lowered it down to these colours:
Arctic White ('02 SS Colour)
Bright Rally Red ('02 Heritage SS Colour)
Dark Tarnish Mettallic (Latemodel Caddy colour)
Inferno Red (Latemodel Dodge Colour)
Electron Blue (02-04 Z06 Vette's)
Sunset Orange Metallic
Then i need to decide if my engine bay will be body colour or Semi-Gloss Black.
Im leaning towards arctic white w/ Semi-gloss bay. I think it looks classy and white suites the thirdgen body.
I agree with you using Arctic white w/black engine bay. Selling your red car and using dads '91 now?
Ive actually located a '91 Z roller that i would transfer my parts into. that way i can stop fooking around with the 4th gen dash and just make everything work properly and not need to change things.
as a show car you are better off doing everything all one color. if you are doing alot of the work yourself pulling those parts is quite possible otherwise you will double the cost of your build by doing so, potentially delaying your build, throwing off the entire project costing you more time and money then needed.
if you want a show car build it, plan it out, know your expenses and go for it. if you just want a nice looking car you can paint it decently and not run into nearly the many hassles and expenses required when dismantling everything.
good luck. my vote is to pick your own color that isn't on a factory show floor of a standard vehicle. remember pearls and metallics fade in the sun so if you don't have proper indoor storage spend the money on the best clear you can get to protect the car if you go that route.
if you want to hold on to the car for as long as possible go with a straight color like red, white, etc and remember if you ever have to sell the car sunset metallics of any odd kind such as yellow/orange, etc will hurt your resale.
