Re: Lets See That Painted Motor

chevy orange is the traditional color . you can paint it most any you want . myself , i like a lighter color on engines . blue/gray or alum/gray , i feel it makes a cleaner look . also in the future much easier to find leaks that happen after age . your call . good luck .

Re: Lets See That Painted Motor

My block, heads, etc. were just painted gloss black with duplicolor engine enamel. The intake and valve covers were done in basecoat/clear coat. I painted the valve covers to match the car. Maui blue/rally red stripe(leftover from a honda i painted)/silver(leftover from a subaru). I did the work myself.

That looks nice on the stand. By the time you got it in the car you could barely see it. Have to clean up the bay a little.

Re: Lets See That Painted Motor

I don't have any pics, but I'm partial to a gloss black engine. I guess I'm just lazy, but it tends to hide a lot of imperfections. I'll be swapping engines soon, so I'll get some pics up then...

Re: Lets See That Painted Motor

Here are a few picks. The heads are not really aluminum but I liked the look so I went with it. Kind of funny that none of those parts on the outside of that motor are new. All where blasted and repainted.

Re: Lets See That Painted Motor

The cheapest mod you can do if the engine is out. I use these threads to steal ideas from some of you creative ones out there.
This is an older one of mine. Plenty has changed since then but my rattle can black block goes with any color accesories.

My 383 LT1. This is how I picked it up and not really liking the excessive RTV around the intake... I may or may not redo it.
