My nearly finished "hood latch area panel" W/ PICS!!
This has been sitting in the trunk of my Monte for too long now, I finally decided to finish it up. I still have to find the smallest dremel bit they make to finish off the edges of the letters to make them as sharp as possible. I'm going to powder coat the panel in high gloss black, then take a piece of sheet aluminum, polish it and then coat it in candy red, then stick it behind the letters and bowtie. I thought about doing this in diamond plate aluminum, but sheet metal is so much easier to work with, plus I just made one bend and the sheet kind of "rolls" down to the front towards the bumper. If it were diamond plate, I'd have to bend it over a large radius, just seems like it would be harder. Anyways, tell me what ya think so far. Finished pics hopefully within a week, at least the black.
Here's before I started the cutting and stencils and all that funness. Below atached pics are where I'm at now, as well as a crappy photochop of what it will look like, but with candy red and not blood red

OK, just got done powder coating them this afternoon. I didn't polish the back pieces enough so it's more of a dark maroon than a candy red. I think it looks nice though, still have to polish the black though, it's got some orange peel. What cha think?

three more, the red pieces are drying right now, I used some JB weld to hold them in back. Then I'll be ready for final installation.

Re: My nearly finished "hood latch area panel" W/ PICS!!
I do powder coating on the side, on top of going to school in the afternoons. There's not really a mass-production way of setting up this panel that I can see, best thing I can do is post up some pics and hopefully it will inspire someone else to try their hand at it.
I'm also curious about the seat delete, throw up another thread with some pics, that's my next project.

Re: My nearly finished "hood latch area panel" W/ PICS!!
i like the idea. think im gonna take one solid piece of plywood all the way accross the backseat and lay on top of the tunnel. i noticed some people on that link built 2 different boxes and had the tunnel exposed. didnt really like it. then build pieces to hold it up in the front and cover it in black carpet, maybe get something nice stitched into it.maybe even make it to where its on hinges or somehting and the top can open like a compartment for sotrage or something? make it look really hidden so you cant tell lol. your little post just game me some inspriation!! im going to the garage
