Painting Calipers and Caliper Decals

Need comments: I just bought G2 Caliper Paint system and will be applying it to my stock Disc brakes both front and rear on my 1992 Camaro Z28. I am thinking of perhaps putting on white "CAMARO" decals but have some questions.

1. Being that they are white, for those who have white decals on your calipers, how did they stand up for discoloration? We all know it's usually pretty hard to keep WHITE looking WHITE. I can only imagine that that white would discolor fairly quickly with the brake dust but also rim cleaner?

2. Suggestions for the BEST quality "CAMARO" decal that will fit a stock Disc braking system on a 1992 Camaro Z28? There seems to be a large number of vendors selling these. Some are rather CHEAP and others cost a bit more.. Others are specific sizes, and others are yet different angles (ie. strange, and rounded)...

Unless it's powder coat the paint will eventually flake off, discolor, melt off. Best way to do this is to go to an Auto parts store and get front and rears. Disassemble them and powder coat. Install them and take the originals in for the core credit. If you never get any brake fluid on the paint, only use clear coat safe wheel cleaner and never let brake parts cleaner near them they will last a while but if they really heat up they will begin to weather.

I have G2 paint on my Mustang with Brembo calipers. It has held up fine for the 2 years it has been on there. Just make sure you prep the caliper properly -clean it and degrease it thoroughly.
As far as the decals - I bought a cheap set of decals from Ebay and those also still look fine after 2 years.

Did you apply anything over top of the decals? (White? font?). If white, did they not discolor at all?

Nothing over the decals. They are white and did not discolor at all.

Re: Painting Calipers and Caliper Decals

I bought red powdercoated stock GM calipers from Rock Auto years and years ago, and they were pretty cheap. That being said, my current 4th gen caliper set up has been painted with duplicolor caliper paint, along with the rears, and they've held up 100% for the last six years. I clean em everytime the wheels come off and they're perfect.

....as for the decals, just make sure you clean the caliper, and read the paint instructions to see what the proper cure time is. They'll be dry to the touch LONG before they've finished outgassing. ...and those fumes/vapors that you can't see or feel will peel the decals right off.
