window tint
anybody have pictures of their camaro with rear and side tinted windows? i really wanna get them all tinted to 5%, but the rents aren't really going for it. they said they would settle for 5% on the back, but something lighter on the sides, as it's illegal in nj. i'd like pictures of 5% on all the windows or maybe like really dark in the back but lighter on the sides...
thanks

Man I'm telling you a razor blade will help out the most.
Just spray windex (which has ammonia in it, thats why its not window tint safe) to loosen it up some, then scrape with the razor. Thats what I do the cars I detail, and it does not take too long do. Maybe 10 min. a window. Hope that helps.

easiest and quickest way... use nail polish remover.. but b careful and dont let it get all over the place.. i used it on my windows to get old tint off.. and it left a couple droplets on my sill plate... bleached it sort of.. but worked wonders.. smelled for a while.. but worked.

Carb cleaner!
Just done this!
In the UK, I used a spray can of carb cleaner! Spray on a rag and wipe glue off. Comes off with one wipe! Have to keep rag sprayed though. I hope you have carb cleaner in the states!!
Andy.

The easiest and most NON-flamable way is to use an S.O.S. pad. Just make sure you don't let it run outta the soap that comes in it.
I know you're all thinking "yea if you wanna scratch the **** outta the windows", and that's what I thought to. A buddy of mine works in a detail shop and I asked him. The guy I bought the car off of had put tint on just the back window. Obviously it was his first time doing tint 'cause it looked like bubble wrap.
With the rear window defroster, I didn't wanna take the chance of cutting it. He told me to use the S.O.S. pad and I said "OK, but if it screws up my window defroster then you're paying to get it fixed." He said "OK, and I'll buy you new rims for your car."
Unfortunetly nothing bad happened. No free rims.
So if it worked on the inside then it'll certainly work on the outside.
BTW, he uses S.O.S. pads on chrome also.

LYV18F,
If you do this yourself DO NOT USE WINDOW CLEANER!!!!
A lot of kits you buy tell you to use window cleaner (Windex, Sparkle, etc.) on the tint to put it on and work out the bubbles. But don't do it unless you want purple, foggy tint.
Use Dawn liquid dish soap. The lotion crap they use keeps the water and tint slick so you can get those little bubbles out.
And if you want to know an easy way to do the back hatch window, take it off and lay it down. Put a blanket or cloth tarp down on your lawn and have at it. I can do the back window in one piece when I use this method.

hey guys, i got it done this morning. 5% all around, black onyx. it looks really nice. i got it done at a place about 20 minutes from my house (all you jersey guys - the tint shop in edison, route 1 north). they did a great job. i'll post some pics as soon as i get my hands on my friend's digital camera, and once it rains here so i can use my hose without getting a ticket (my car is really really dirty).
thanks for all your posts
